FML - Just been watching the interview with DF and his English is pretty good!!! So that's Cromer and me out of a job then!!
I have been looking at interviews, opinions and reports on various sites and one thing comes across to me. He may look like Charles Bronsons brother, but he is very quietly spoken, but seemingly with an inner steely resolve. I would imagine that he will not deviate from his beliefs football wise, for which we, hopefully, will be ultimately thankful. Interesting times ahead for the Canary Nation.
I have to agree GE and with him running the football side of things and SW the rest, I'm VERY optimistic of good times ahead. I've a feeling some of our players may be in for a rude awakening, as regards their duties and fitness levels.
Player fitness has been an issue ever since Paul Lambert left. He had the team fit enough to snatch victory in the dying minutes, whereas lately we've run out of steam in the final quarter!
Really pleased that the appointment has finally been made and we can get on with next season now. He speaks well, whatever was said before, and articulates a clear vision of what he wants from the players.
Just finished watching the TV interviews of which there were many on Anglia News and BBC Look East. If his football is half as good as the game he talks we could be in for an exciting season. For what it's worth I'm far more excited about DF's appointment than I would have been if Monk had got the gig
Just saw on twitter that he is our first foreign manager!? Is that true!? Is that possible!? When I read that, I was thinking for ages, and can't think of one.
Sorry, didn't mean that to come across as aggressive. No we have never had a Manager who wasn't British or Irish
That seems incredible to me. For a club as old as we are. Wasn't trying to wind anyone up or anything. I just found that a surprising fact, and wanted to know if it was true.
Back to DF's interviews, what stuck me was his confidence and clear vision, but expressed with a tinge of humility as well and that is unusual. He said he wants to talk with the players and find the best way forward so that everybody is committed to the same purpose. That is very much in accord with what was said about him and that could be an advantage that a HC has over a manager. His relationship with the players can be a close one, working together and training together, while SW handles the management side such as contract negotiations or imposing fines. IMO that could make a big difference and difference is something we certainly need! I'm optimistic now and looking forward to the new season. EDIT: This is the bit I really liked: “For me, fitting to Norwich means to be brave, to act not react. Of course a good balance between offensive and defence. When you look at the record last season there are some improvements to be made but I want all the fans to watch our games and see that is a Norwich side.”
This feels like a really positive move for Norwich. Without knowing DF inside out I'm excited to have a fresh change of leadership and some new ideas for the way ahead. With Webber's comments and DF's background I can see some fresh coaching direction, more integration of the academy with the 1st team and hopefully a clean slate and renewed motivation for players. Whatever happens, i'm excited to get on with a new season already.
