I've got absolutely no problem with this, it's all good fun. We give, we take, init. A lot of mags are saying the two shouldn't be combined, personally I actually think it's a nice touch. Thoughts?
Their just like sheep, it was our idea first, but then Noocastle have always been at least one step behind us in most things.
A lot of us don't like it either. The united by cancer message is fine, but adding the other bit belittles what would otherwise be a powerful message. Either take the piss (if that's what they find funny), or show unity for young Bradley and others, but don't mix the two. I don't like it at all personally. I'd rather the costs be added to the fundraising.
It's pathetic imo, no better morally than what Monty said. Pay for the banner, take your piss, donate the left overs to charity. No need for the attempt of the 'righteous stance' of 'they took the piss but at least we did something nice'. So transparent. It's using kids with cancer for one-up-manship. Utterly pathetic and shameful behavior when you consider the press have already made sure it's publicised for the kids a platform that will reach more people full stop. When you consider it only serves to preach to the converted, it's either out of stupidity or for more sinister reasons I've mentioned. I reckon it's the later. Pre-publicised 'good intentions'. More like Pre-publicised moral high ground. Pathetic.
I lost my Mam to cancer at Christmas and I think it's a lovely touch. Everybody is going to see this different, I suppose.
Just take the piss. No need for the 'look everyone, we're being kind'. Donating the excess was the kindness, this is just riding heat off dying children as far as I'm concerned.
Of course, depends how you look at it. For me the excess to the charity is the kindness, the press involvement is the publicity. So what do that make the sign? All avenues are covered for the charity imo. Should have just took the piss with the sign.
The art of taking the piss is disappearing. Everything is frowned upon. The world is dying througj lack of fun, and way to much seriousness
Obviously I'm not picking up on something here. If it is indeed a bad message then I don't think it's malicious maybe a little bit miscalculated should I say.
Not sure how I feel about it. Part of me thinks it's good but then another part of me thinks it's stupid. So with that in mind, I'll move along.
I'm just thinking it could be coming from a really nice genuine bloke and this could make him look and feel awful, which would be a real shame. Delicate subject.
Maybe it's just me, considering it started out as revenge piss take it's suddenly far too overwrought in the other direction to be sincere. It went to a vote so I'm sure for most the heart was in the right place, but I don't doubt many voted it for the wrong reasons. Just taking the piss and donating the excess would have served all purposes leaving no gray areas to even question.
I don't know how far true it is, I'm sure someone could find out, but apparently the banner cost £900 and they've got over £6k and the rest will go to Cancer charity. I'd rather it all went there.
I certainly understand your point of view mate. I think I'm just not seeing the sinister side of anything at the moment. If it is indeed that, well then that's just canny ****e craic, init.
In any case even if has become a secondary detail that extra money is going to make a big difference.
