What about if they got the equivalent of Oscar hazard mata for that £85m, although they would be £100m plus now and maybe even more after a preseason with Jose

If we sold Mata or Hazard now, IMO no signings could recoup that loss to the side. You lose team chemistry so effectively start over.

Say we've got £30m to spend net. We sell Defoe and Adebayor and buy two new strikers. We might get Damiao and Negredo or something similar. Not obviously a huge improvement. But if we sell Bale too we could afford Lewandowski, Hulk and Willian. Not saying they will come but that would be a better forward three than we've currently got.

The problem for Spurs though is that they are not in the Champions league, so they will have difficulty attracting top quality players. To be brutally honest, Bale is better than Spurs. He's a big fish in a small pond who has a massive influence on your team. If you lose him he is basically irreplaceable, because you won't be able to attract a player of his quality to Spurs.

Got a feeling Bale likes being a big fish in a small pond so may be content to stay with spurs for a while

True, if he went to a bigger club he might have to start passing rather than shoot on sight like he does now. Might improve his assist stats though...

Ronaldo scores every time he graces the field. He's scored more league goals than league apps. Incomparable. Plus he got way more assists than Bale anyway.

Bale will stay for another season. He has a special connection with Spurs otherwise he would have farked off. He is idolised by the fans and is the best player thus plays week in week out. If Real signed Bale and Suarez there is no guarantee he would start! That sounds stupid but with the talent they have, it's true!

He'll stay for one more season then fark off imo

Yep Sutton have done well to organise them. I'm really up for it as there are no first team friendlies in England so most Chels are going to this one instead. Lots of revenue for Sutton as well

I wasn't putting him down btw. Can't deny he's not expected to pass if he doesn't want to. Bale is not as good as Ronaldo, but he is the same type of player. If he went there he'd score 40+ goals - although I hope I don't find out for sure for a year or two.

that's what they need, the revenue, run on a shoe string, but still braking even at worse, but with more money Sutton could do better, plus the gound is going to be re-developed,the plans are waiting approvel

If Real Madrid want a player, they'll get him, it's just a matter of when. The same will happen with Hazard.

I think he'll stay with the spuds for this season. But to be honest, you have to question his ambition if he does stay. It's all very well hauling the spuds arses out of trouble and into a europey spot, but a player of his ability should be testing himself alongside the best players in the world, in the biggest competitions.

He said the season before last that he would have to consider what was best for his career if the spuds failed to qualify for the CL, and they fell short again, so maybe he will decide to move to a big club. If he does want to better his career, one would hope that the Spiv Levy doesn't try and hold him hostage like he did with Modric.

It is rare than one can say this. It was not the case with rvp or fabreagas but Bale is bigger than his club. Sad for Suds but true

Arsenal are a big enough brand to survive without CL football and attract top players. You built your platform yonks ago. Spurs need to do that now and they need top players + CL to do that. Bale is their most marketable player and it would be a huge blow to lose him in the same way it would for Liverpool to lose Suarez. If both of those players leave then IMO Liverpool and Spurs have to put aside any top 4 ambitions for another year.

People said the same thing when Ronaldo left, that the money would be re-invested and make United stronger but in the 3 years since his departure they haven't been anywhere near as good.

You lot on the gooner board whine on about the lack of loyalty of players like Cole (who has won the FA Cup, League Cup, Prem title, CL and Europa League after leaving you) Nasri (Prem winner) RVP (prem winner) etc. all of whom left to join clubs who can and do win things unlike you and us...you need to remember you don't win a trophy for coming 4th...you just get more money...

your players play in the biggest competition and have gone out in the last 16 for the past 3 years so don't appear to be doing them any good...as I pointed out above...they still left joined by those who love arsenal like Henry (won CL after he left) Fabregas (won CL after he left)

so if we sell bale we are a selling club with no ambition and if we don't sell we are holding him hostage like we did with Modric???
you really are a sad tart who loves spouting this hostage line...bet you next come up with your other line that spurs ****ed up cos we turned down £40m for Modric but only got £30m...you are nothing if not predictable <laugh>
