Seem to recall white was the away strip for a long time when I first started watching in 1963. They were using white kits when TWS were the Blue And Yellow ****e. Terry Neill altered it to red and black stripes, colours for away colours which seemed a bit of a fad at the time, as he thought it made players look taller. Which actually seened to be the case.
He thought they would look more powerful. At the time I thought it looked poor but, surprisingly, Shanks knew better than myself.
I'd disagree. Black shorts would make it look like the shirt from one kit and the shorts from another. If the amber stripe on the shoulders is going to be a feature on the shorts though, it should also be on the sides of the body of the shirt so that the line up from the shorts is constant.
