It was a serious question on a side note from the original disagreement and it was answered helpfully by Hampy not sure if the GCSE reference was a piss take but I will give him the benefit of the doubt.....I'm not sure I go along with football being that predictable but I'm sure it can help with my bets for next season.......... .....of my bets for this season I only have one hope left to get some 'Cash Back'
It wasn't a pisstake - here's a really good example - A 3-3 draw takes place roughly every 300-400 games (worked it out a couple of years ago and can't remember exactly. The odds the bookies give you is 50-1 which means they make 8 times their money on people who bet on that outcome. The bookies have huge teams of people working all this out, the reason they do so well and take money off people is that there are always patterns and they always keep the odds in their favour and cover their bets.
I actually wouldn't take that. Cresswell is for me the best LB in the division and he's literally our only player with assists this year, losing him we'd need to gain some creativity from somewhere. No doubting Williams is a great player but when he plays it's like we're a one man team, rather than passing and moving, creating space we just give him the ball and hope he does something with it or wins us a freekick. I'd rather us try to build a team that is more coherent attacking rather than a solid team that relys on individuals to pull something out of the bag. Having said this I can see why we'd sell Cresswell because he's our only player who's worth anything
I'm not so sure, Murphy seemed to up his game when McGoldrick got injured and then we got Williams in, I'm not sure Mick would fit both Williams and McGoldrick in the same team. Unless he played Williams on the wing, which I actually think he would be suited to and given our current lack of talent out there wouldn't be a bad thing, I think his direct running suits being a winger more than it does in the centre and he can certainly cross the ball
Hows about this for a team: -------Chambers, Berra, Smith-------- Hewitt-----------------------Cresswell -----------Hyam, Wordsworth -----------Williams, McGoldrick ----------------Murphy
Skuse is so frustrating just feel like he needs a good shouting at, have some bloody intent in your game boy
TBH I think Sat is the last time we will see Joniesta & Cressy turn out together in a Town team. Like the formation though......BUT that is not a MM set up, would have to have Skuse ahead of Wordy to protect the back 3, the other issue is who to play left side & what about the lad from City, by all accounts he may well be signing in the summer, he plays wide right.!
Assuming we swap Cresswell for Williams in the summer then: Gerken Hewitt Chambers Smith Mings Murphy Hyam Williams Hunt Marriott McGoldirck
Yeah quite ironic that it's a centre half when our defence has been so shambolic lately. Then again, McGoldrick has been injured and Williams only played a couple of months, so it had to go to somebody I guess.
It proves that you dont get to watch many of our games as Berra is head and shoulders above everyone else in that team and I include Tommy and Golders in that! Berra has been fantastic for us all season and has weighed in with some important goals! Your credibility is really up for question if you dont rate Berra as being our best player!
Watch out the nazis are coming! I put together a hypothetical XI of how I would like to see us play - I do not in a million years expect to see McCarthy play Marriott or play three attacking minded players in the midfield. All three centre backs are first teamers but I prefer Chambers and Smith - by the way when it comes to performance of centre backs chemistry is as important as individuals. To be perfectly honest the three of them are interchangeable and none of them are superstars. Oh, and it's not based on three games but about a dozen I've seen this season, is that acceptable to you Hoppers? You guys really need to stop jumping on every word. I spend longer on this forum justifying my comments than actually debating anything, beginning to get a bit yawnsome now gents. And to say that my credibility is in question for putting together in 20 seconds a hypothetical XI along with Hoppers questioning my integrity by saying I'm effectively lying and moving the goalposts - you're painting yourselves as a proper pair of arseholes.
