Good morning from an island that seems to have had the same weather as WSM, but thankfully the rain stayed away until after the annual Battle of Flowers moonlit parade and the fireworks that followed last night.
Charlottesville today. Who'd be this poor guy - charged with protecting the right of the morons and their heavily-armed friends behind him to demonstrate against him. I truly despair for the human race...
Good morning one and all. A bit of drizzle about, but warm. I hope I have sorted my computer out, it does seem to be running better today. Time will tell.
This morning French TV was giving live coverage of the 50 km race walk from the Mall in London. Walking is very popular here, with a randonnee taking place somewhere in the locality most weeks throughout the year. Soon after we moved here we were asked if we would like to join with the locals for a 8 km walk, and it seemed a good opportunity to get to know them better. A gentle stroll along green lanes to a chateau where a breakfast was laid out on trestle tables. All the traditional goodies, with coffee and wine to wash it down. A further stroll along the footpaths took us back to the village hall in time for a buffet lunch. Very gentle and a good way to spend a Sunday morning. A little later we were asked to go on a 16 km route, and that was a very different affair. People with all the best walking boots and a serious air about the event. Nothing gentle about that, a fast speed march. We gave up the attempt to keep up with them before the break for refreshments, and I have a diplomatic bad ankle to prevent me going again.
Morning all. A beautiful sunny morning with the temperature expected to reach 30°C by this afternoon. It is a public holiday tomorrow, so many people have taken the day off to create a long weekend. My hamlet is full of visitors, the population must be about 50% larger than normal, i.e. about 30.
Mme Yorkie is over next week at the vineyard checking the crop with grandkids etc. I , for once, have to work.
I think that Watford fans have often felt proud of the community schemes that the club have been involved in since GT started things off. This does seem to have spread to other clubs, such as the example here. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-merseyside-40935161
