Dennis Bergkamp's sublime turn and finish against Newcastle in 2002, has been officially voted the premier league's greatest ever goal. Agree ? Or would you vote for a different one. If so post it up here. I'll post up the Bergkamp goal later as my phone is being a ****.
The fact that Le Tissier's first goal against Newcastle of 'that' brace was ignored in that particular year group made me not take it seriously.
Best goal he scored was the one where the ball starts behind him and he sort of flicks it forward while it is in the air, then does 2 defenders and smashes it.
Have to say, this this is probably my favourite.. Defoe's volley against the Mags never got in either, sublime goal..
That's the one I'm on about luv, better version of Gazzas v Scotland His second goal in that game wasn't too shabby either...
Will upload it later Another favourite of his was the free kick where he flicked it up and volleyed it in the top corner against Wimbledon. Only time he ever tried it. They could have had a competition just for him tbh. Gutted I'm too young to have seen him in his prime.
Difficult one...when someone like myself is used to scoring worldie's, I find it difficult to narrow it down to 1
I wouldn't argue with that Bergkamp effort, it was pure wizardry. I always loved this just because of the occasion and how the City players just stood there completely helpless.
My favourite was this effort from Suarez against Norwich. In the game he'd already scored two volleys, one being from 40 yards to lob the keeper, but his third was the best of the bunch for me. He took the ball down off his chest, flicked it round the defender and then slapped it into the corner on the half volley. Mind blowing technique. It's a goal that doesn't get enough praise for me, completely undefendable and completely unstoppable and it gets him his hatrick. Madness.
Great goal on a big occasion. For me I would go with the Bergkamp one because of the amazing technical skill as well as the sheer audaciousness to try and pull it off. It wasn't through as if he was trying to be flashy, it was just Bergkamp's level if skill that he knew what was needed to flick the ball past the defender. The way he flicked it on the turn, back to goal, and turned it around the blindside of the defender, to meet it the other side was incredible. I remember watching that goal and not really understanding how he did it, until seeing the replay. Unbelievable skill. I'd also put Henry's flick when he had his back to goal against Utd at Highbury up there. I'll post up the link later when I'm on my laptop. I'm sure you'll enjoy that one Tel
Not the best goal ever, but probably one of the most important goals ever scored in the premier league and certainly the most dramatic.
It's undoubtedly the most important. Literally the difference between winning and losing the title to your greatest rivals.
