Game played out exactly how Man Utd would have wanted.

Shame it was a lucky deflection that allowed them to defend for the rest of the game....

He's become one of my most 'hated' players this season as I've noticed his cowardly, twatish antics more and more. Nasty little cretin who needs a slap, frustrating how he always gets away with it in matches and in the media.

Seems a shame to break up what is potentially an extremely good team, but OK. :)

In the 1970's it didn't happen and the shame is that, for all their building, it'll probably happen now. And it's the very thing that drives people away from football in the end. The fact that competition cannot thrive.

    The Dutch League:

35 year old Brad Jones (ex-Liverpool) kept 17 clean sheets this season as Feyenoord won the league.

The Australian joined the Dutch club last year from NEC Nijmegan after previously being reserve goalkeeper for League One Bradford City.

Not the first victims, United got CL due to last night as well didn't they?

Edit- We were actually the first beneficiaries of the no runner up rule too!!

We are entitled to three English teams, I can only see Arsenal and Everton. Arsenal are in the FA Cup and are already qualified, Chelsea are already in the Champions League. Surely we should qualify either as eighth or Runners Up in the League Cup, it is absolutely unfair.

It is 7 English teams in European competition, usually split 4 in CL 3 in EL. This year the split is 5 in CL and 2 in EL

I believe that Man Utd's CL place is an extra one, but comes at the expense of the EL place they already had qualified for through the EFL Cup. Everton got the EL place that United would have had through their league position if they hadn't won the EFL Cup. So although we only have 2 English teams in the EL, we have 5 in the CL.

Gareth Southgate picking form players and not players on their reputation - utter disgrace - if he carries on like this we might actually win something!

20 years+ too late. If venables and hoddle had the same philosophy we'd have no reason to argue.

but if he'd actually been earning his millions he might have noticed that Jack Stephen's is better than those 2 Man Utd nobodys in central defence

Twas ever thus. We've always made excellent runners up. It's way too exciting for us to be winners because we only end up talking about it for 40+ years.

Jack's playing for the England U21's in the European Championship this summer along with JWP, Nathan, Matt, and Sam, so Gareth's excused this time.
