So, in terms of first teamers out on loan...... who out of this little lot would you want to see back (if any) next year?

Thauvin - see his goal this week here:

    De Jong
Manu Riviere (his contract is up in the Summer so he can leave)
    Krul
    Saivet

Personally I'd try to keep Thauvin. I think Rafa could get the best out of him.
The rest (including Krul) can be moved on IMHO.

I might be wrong but I thought the loan for Thauvin was going to become permanent at the end of the season!

Ah. "First reamers" hence not including Armstrong.
Still doesn't change the fact I want to see him back

Yeah, dependent on appearances and he's already made enough.

Thauvin looked like Cabella, i.e. seriously out of his depth in the Prem and not strong enough, another example of how our French recruitment policy has massively failed. Even if we could recall him, I wouldn't, France is his place not England.

Ditto Siem De Jong, fine in the Dutch like, crap over here, just like his brother.

Saivet recall and see if he's good enough as he never really got a chance.

Krul I'd be tempted to cash in on, overrated and nothing more than an average keeper in the Prem.

No point having Thauvin back at SJP, because he doesn't want to be there.
Even Rafa won't motivate a player who feels he was bullied into joining a club he didn't want to.
Best for all concerned if he moves on.

At least we are likely to get a decent fee given the form he is in.

Admit to the title of the op confusing me. If they are "forgotten men" how can Chippy name them? Surely the op title should be referring to the "remembered men that had been forgotten but aren't now"?

Thauvin is set for a permanent deal unless they decide they don't want to take up the option. Given he has scored seven and assisted quite a few, I think he will remain there.

Other than that I'd welcome Arma back. Saivet - I have no idea if he is any good. So leave that to Rafa.

Krul - nice guy, decent keeper but unless his passing has improved he's no good to us..

De Jong is best off where he is.

Riviere can go **** his own arse with a cactus.

I think De Jong, Saviet and Krul will all be back with some of the younger players getting a chance in preseason to impress but being moved on if Rafa doesnt think it'll work out with Krul the most likley to be let go IMO.

I'd also take a chance and give Thauvin another shot under Rafa if its possible but highly doubtful...

Bring Thauvin back? Give over. He's absolute dog **** and completely unable to cut it in the Premier League.

This discussion around Thauvin is probably a non starter. I'd be massively surprised if Marseille don't take up the option. He has 7 in 26 games from the wing. They are 6th and will likely finish somewhere between 4th-7th. They have a chance of European football and of course an influx of cash. I'd imagine the deal agreed is less than they received for him.

He did struggle. Perhaps Rafa could get more from him. However we need to be realistic. We will be a promoted team. Our goal will be survival. Like it or lump it you need to cut your cloth to suit the job you need to do. Is he lad who is going to fight and scrap along the way? I doubt it. We are making heavy work of the Championship - we are basically not that good.

Are people expecting us to go up and sit comfortably in mid-table?! Rafa is a decent manager with good pedigree currently doing an ok job. Even if he was a stellar manager walking away with the championship, I'd still think it would be unfair to expect too much. We're not very good.
