Staying in New Years Eve Swanny - kids don't want to go out, want a nice family evening. Which is fine Kenny you ever been across to the Czech Republic on a beer mission? Some lovely stuff to be quaffed there.
Nope, as with Berlin I would like to have headed East pre 'Glasnost'. One of my former workmates at HMRC used to be an 'English' teacher in Linz many years ago so he was forever popping over into 'Czechoslovakia' (Plzen, I think) for an inexpensive day on the beer! Had a trip to Berlin booked about three years ago to visit monuments and museums however a BAP concert in Koln surfaced so it was back on the lash in North Rhine - Westphalia for this weak-willed old newt!
Amazing back to back, leg finishes by the Wizard of Oz, Simon Whitlock in the first round of the World Darts Champs.
If we 'perform' as we did against Darmstadt we will get f****d! Not likely to be pleasant viewing on BT Sport unless we improve a notch or ten! Will get changed into my jammies after teatime; have already ordered escort for the evening!
Leipzig are extraordinary this season, how on earth did this young Scottish player Oliver Burke know this would happen when he signed for them? Got to be one of the top 'subs' in the Bundesliga when he regularly comes off the bench in the second half. He could have gone to many top-class clubs, but to the amazement of many, he chose Leipzig! The trainer is something else too, might well be voted 'trainer of the year', if he has not already received this accolade? Having said that, I will be surprised if Bayern get beaten this evening in their own Allianz Arena. Bayern's bench strength is unbelievable, every game top international players sitting watching! None of them complain either, must be well paid! Robben continues to dumbfound lots of people, his ordinary walking gait is so awkward and ungainly, but once he breaks into a trot with the ball at his feet he's world class, even though he employs the same old trick time and time again (cut-in from the right, go past one or two defenders, and bang it with his left foot). No defenders in Europe seem to be able stop this frequent manoeuvre of his. Enjoy the game!
Leipzig in self-destruct mode - down to 10 men and 3-0 at half time. Could end up a cricket score. Kenny on the pish
Stroll in the park for Bayern, Leipzig outclassed. As a game, disappointing. Hope to hell Arsenal do better than that next year, we'll see. Such a shame the UK leagues don't get a winter break, even a short one of, say, a couple of weeks or so. German teams return refreshed and fit as a fiddle in late January/early February. http://www.dw.com/en/bundesliga-bay...s-leipzig-to-move-clear-at-the-top/a-36869037
I sometimes wonder about the sense and sanity of football fans. Some Leicester supporters on the wireless (Talksport) badmouthing Claudio Ranieri. I suppose this happens all over Europe but surely six months memory lapse is a wee bit hard to explain!
Absolute f**kwits BK. A Leicester 'fan' was on Radio 5 a few weeks back badmouthing Ranieri. He felt Ian Dowie was the man to replace him. Robbie Savage, not reknown in our household for offering much in the way of insight, was left speechless at that so not all bad.
Is there a full moon coming? I am on a FC Bayern website and some of the comments are f*****n' unbelievable. Some fans think you can just go out an buy anybody plus some of the s**t I read about Pep Guardiola throughout his three years in Munchen were incredible; suddenly every supporter from all over the world is a f*****n' tactical mastermind!
Can't figure out where the bleedin' hell you are atm, BK, "Greetings from Bayern" and "returning home from Köln and Paris", etc., you're a right Scottish Scarlet Pimpernel? Will you be in Köln for Silvesterabend?
Nope; fly out on 1 January! Five nights in Koln then train to Paris for four nights then Eurostar to London for a two night rest before train back up to Edinburgh! Not sure when I will be back in Munich as it is difficult to get back to Auld Reekie by train. Cannot really afford any more 'extended' trips as I require work on my abode next year. Pimpernel Smith more like! Love all these films from this era; Night Train To Munich. The Lady Vanishes etc. The portrayals of the National Socialists in each is a scream apart from Paul Henreid who I first saw as a 'goodie' in Casablanca. Boo-Hoo - Bundesliga Winterpaus!
Just noticed that the second 'Old Firm' league match takes place at 12.15 on Saturday 31st December; are they f*****n' mad! There will be carnage in Glasgow and other parts of Scotland on Hogmanay evening. There will, of course, be the usual news minimalisation of any attacks whether serious or not. What a representation of football and celebration in my 'home' country!
Here's a shot of BayernKenny and friends 'enjoying' the annual dip into the freezing Emmeringer Lake on Christmas Eve! (Emmering is about 23km west of Munich, as the crow flies, and 42km by road):
