Berg is easily one of the most under rated county cricketers. And great to see young McManus again scoring under pressure.
Lewis McManus has grown up hugely in this match. He came in when Hants were in deep trouble in the first and helped us avoid the follow on and finished unbeaten as well.
Great win. Although if Yorkshire had Brooks and/or Sidebottom available to them I suspect we would have lost. But you can only play what's put in front of you and we did remarkably well to turn a first innings deficit of 130 into a win.
That's a hell of a performance to pull that back. Abbott will get most of the credit for keeping Hants in it but the run chase was a real team effort.
I believe that I am right in saying that this is only the second time that a county side has ever chased down over 300 to win at Headingly fourth innings. And the first time? Well that was us as well, with a big Jimmy 100. The only one of our players to feature in both games.
It also means that for at least a few hours, we are top of the Championship. I'm not sure if I have ever seen us sitting top of the Championship before!
And they're unsure if Rilee will bat, due to injuring his finger. At least with Fidel, it's only really this game and the next that he should miss (still not great, of course). It's then a month of one-day cricket that I doubt he'd have featured in anyway: Topley and Wood instantly come into contention when it comes to the white ball, whilst they are also a fan of Crane in 50 over cricket. I'd only be naming Fidel in our 50 over team if on the morning of the match, it looks as cloudy as anything. Too expensive otherwise, and offers nothing with the bat or in the field.
