As @ForestHillBilly points out, what gives Lockwood the right to think he can order protesters to stop singing the 'Roland song'? It is that inbred arrogance, so typical of Ben Tegg, Everitt and Hayes as well.
Seems there was a meeting with senior club officials prior to yesterday's game.... notes on CL .... does anybody go on there who could post a summary? Which supporters attended?? CL people?
Bromley Addicks -- 33 of them Apparently they had a vote of no confidence in Meire at the end that was only passed by 60-40%
And who knows what his terms will be? The clubs debts are £50m and rising (a figure not disputed by the CEO), the crowds are dwindling, and income from sponsorship must be expected to dwindle accordingly. Roland's attitude towards the fans is one of contempt, possibly vindictiveness, and so as time goes by it seems increasingly hard to imagine anyone meeting his terms. As Royston says, we're in a hole.
Only 2 logical outcomes: 1. He loses interest and sells. The protests are irrelevant to that. 2. The status quo continues, and the club as we know it dies. We lose a whole generation of fans too.
Hence a lot of the apathy from non-active protestors. A lot of people who renewed season tickets, the vast majority even, are just resigned to it, and will carry on going because they always have done. But that core will be tested severely if the dross we have to watch continues. Number 2 is the likelier outcome, which means learning to live with it or giving it up. I can live with it but would prefer to do so with increased accountability from the ownership. It makes CARDs hasty and arrogant decision to immediately reject negotiations farcical. I guess my conclusion is who do CARD now speak for? They are not representative of the match going fan now and as such any decision they make is one sided and loaded against a large proportion of the fan base; thier actions have to be representative to succeed.
Not sure about that, Kish. The CEO's statement in 2014 that Roland will do things his way and the fans have to accept it still holds good, and will continue to.
The problem is, it might appear we are being harsh by being critical of there decision not to talk to the board... Buuuuuuuuut, look at their response to separate bodies who agree to talk to KM. some of their messages to target 20k were farcical (as kish says).
Dialogue with Meire is a dialogue with the deaf & deranged. The only snippet I read from yesterday's meeting was her claim that the club had not lost overall sponsorship revenue this season compared to last which apparently provoked gasps from fans as well as staff, so brazen was the lie. After yesterday I see more & more of the serious and educated fans boycotting , eventually we will be left with something that resembles a flash mob for a free Saga holiday.
