Not many goalkeepers save a lot of penalties and even with the best goalkeeper in the world would struggle with our defenders in front of him.
We have played teams where their keeper has played a blinder and kept out shot after shot from us and they have beat us by a single goal. I can't remember the last time Ruddy did that. We have let in so many set pieces and soft goals for so long. Just take a look at the stats yourself . I think he's saved 9 pens in the last 8 years
I'm not denying his form hasn't dipped, had plenty of bad game but he have also had good ones in those bad spells too. Don't forget Rudd and McGovern have also let in plenty of goals, suggesting the problem is much deeper than the goalkeeper.
These are all the games he has played this season www.soccerbase.com/players/player.sd?player_id=38215 in 28 appearances only lost 8 games. Now my memory isn't that good but I'm pretty sure he would have made some good saves in one of those games... Not sure why you feel such hatred for the guy though.
37 conceded in 28 games is not good enough nor is 11 wins & criticism of professional highly paid sportsmen is not hate speech pumpkin.
You are entitled to your opinion DD but I, for one, think you are being very harsh. When a defender makes a mistake it opens up the door for the keeper to be the last line, if he can't guess the right way to move, it results in a goal! It is not the keeper's fault but the fault of the defender!
Yes that's why our awful defence is being released and replaced too. I don't hate them either they just failed miserably at their jobs that they we're paid lots of money to try and do much better. The same was said of Wolf's winkle," it's not his fault he had no service." No I didn't hate him either.
Agree with this - and also the release of Bennett and Ruddy. Just look at our goals conceded column this season, and that's the second tier of English football! Surely that explains why so many players - especially defenders are being released. If only AN hadn't offered McGovern such a gormless lengthy deal, I bet he'd be on the the 'out door' list as well - he fully deserves to be This club needs to rebuild, not tweak and fine-tune as has been the norm for Christ knows how long. It won't reach fruition overnight, but it needed doing. Fair play to Stuart Webber in his short time here for grasping the nettle.
We conceded 69 goals the 3rd worst in the division. You could even argue that having a liability in goal actually destroyed the confidence of the defence ,as they were terrified Ruddy would run out of his goal and leave the defence exposed, flap at corners, and pass to the opposition from a goal kick most games undoing their hard work etc etc. You could make a 20 minute Ruddy blooper video easily just from the last 2 or 3 seasons
Russel Martin still swans about like a swashbuckling fans hero and I honestly don't think he realises that he's been **** for the last 3 seasons. I really really really hate that bustard.
Good ambassador for the club though - has all the valid soundbites And surely that's what's important?
How many points do we get for a captain or player that's a go ambassador. Carrow road is full pretty much every week we don't need ambassadors we need a decent CB pairing.
IMO, Ruddy is leaving because of his high wages rather than what he's done in goal. He's a good keeper, not great but good. People talk of the goals we've conceded while ignoring the goals we scored. If you play attacking football you're also more likely to concede goals. If we packed our goalmouth every week like some Championship teams we'd have conceded fewer goals, but we'd have scored fewer as well (and people would have moaned about the boring, negative football being played). Add to that a defensive weakness, particularly at CB, but also with the attack minded Pinto and Dijks, and the story becomes more complicated. I can see why Ruddy is being let go to save wages, but I don't think it's because he isn't a good enough keeper. Also, I see that James Nursey of the Mirror is saying that we're willing to sell Howson (can someone show me a time when a Nursey prediction came true?). If we go down that road I can see a very divided club developing very quickly. We're definitely in the silly season for rumours now.
Nothing to add Rick!!! Of course we're going to be silly season for journos for a few weeks until our HC is appointed at least and Howson is our future captain IMO!!
Not according to the Mirror's James Nursery http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...5004368?utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=dlvr.it
I did mention that in post 76 above, Cromer. Thus JMF's comments about the 'silly season for rumours'. He shows just how ITK he is by calling Howson our 'skipper'!
