Highest reliability rating of any brand. Coming on to 5 years old never had a single issue.

Nothing wrong with Japanese cars, just as reliable as German cars imo. Its the French cars you need to avoid (plus Alfa but can't really say Italian cars since Fiat / Ferrari are "alright")

Actually, if you look at the reliability ratings German cars do very poorly. Or at least they did 5 years ago when I was doing the research.

Honda and Toyota easily the most reliable brands followed by Ford (that shocked me). Audi actually did well, the only German brand that did.

No French, eastern european or Spanish cars sold over here or I'm sure they'd do worse

BMW was just about the most unreliable brand out there. (It's also funny, every beemer owner I know hates their car because it keeps breaking down on them).

This was in America at least, Europe has different models and some cars made in different factories so there probably is some difference... Plus I'm not sure how things have changed in last 5 years because I have had no motivation to do the research, I won't be buying myself a car for another 10 years or so, and the Mrs. Has already decided on a Honda minivan for her next vehicle and can't be persuaded to look at normal cars.

They've been selling Fiats over here for a few years now and I'm constantly amused how they are advertised as an "upscale European brand".

You can't get much worse than a Fiat.

Maybe if you didn't force people to put the steering wheel on the wrong side wouldn't have issues?

I had a Peugeot for about 5 years, never had any issues with it. Sometimes you just get lucky and unlucky cars plus driving style probably has big influence.

As a child I loved those ugly Citroen hatchbacks with the curved roof from the 70's/80's... So ugly they were fun looking.
