Victor Orta has hinted that Leeds may not operate with an expensive budget when they dip into the transfer market this summer.

The club confirmed on their official website on Tuesday afternoon that the Spaniard has been appointed the Director of Football for the Championship club.

He joins a team that is still recovering from the shock resignation of manager Garry Monk, who left the club last Thursday, two days after Italian Andrea Radrizzani had taken complete control of the club.

Orta stated that the Yorkshire side will be looking to bring through players from their own Academy as well as trying to scout the best players, but he did drop a hint that those brought to the club may not be big-money purchases.

“We need to create a very good atmosphere with the senior staff and manager by producing talents in two ways,” Orta told the club’s official Twitter account.

“One way is scouting, to try and get the best players for our team, with a methodology to watch and try and get the best players. Not always the best players are the most expensive players. We need to find very good options. The other way is the Academy.”

I really don't think you can read anything into Ortiz's quote. He didn't say we would have limited funds at all, he said not always the best players aren't the most expensive players.

I just think its a pretty standard looking statement from someone who has just joined the club.
