Monk has been tapped up, and this has nothing to do with a 12 months extension, because Monk actually had no choice but to accept the extension if Radz invoked it ... this has to do with Monk receiving other offers, and that's why his agent wanted the extension dropped so Monk would be free to negotiate with other clubs he did have a choice he could resign. Rads statement said "We have accepted Monks resignation" no need to resign if Rad wasn't renewing it
To be honest it's patently obvious he has offers and the agent advised against the extension to clear the decks. What we don't know in this he said she did stuff is: 1. did rad really want him? If he did surely he tells him clearly his plans way back and puts a proper contract in front of him. If he didn't really want him does he offer a package he knows will be refused for PR purposes.. or would he just say thanks but no thanks? As it is, it looks to me like a guy who wasn't sure, lost faith at the end of the season and wanted to keep his options open. 2. was monk going through the motions from a PR perspective whilst fully planning on leaving... or was he willing to stay if the package/investment plans were agreeable while his agent made backup plans? If rad saw this coming then you would hope alternatives have being shortlisted and sounded out. We better hope that is is the case and progress is swift.
To be fair, I thought he would be writing more than Jilly Cooper right now - been remarkably subdued so far. #noprogress #radsout #theendisnigh
Do you remember when I said that Pontus's pre contract wasn't wrth the paper it's written on and some of you knew better (you know who you are)... it turns out you didn't. Just like Pontus's this was effectively a pre-contract and as such is unenforceable under both British and EU law and the club had no choice but to let monk go when he reached the end of his fixed contract. Pontus will do the same.
Nothing to say.. its happened. Lets see if rad having stalled on the three year deal Monk wanted right from the start has done what any right thinking person would have done and planned for the what if monk says **** it.... If not then here we go again. None of the names in the betting are exciting, Clotet would be a risk. But not sure that monk was as good as many seemed to think. We played poorly in loads of games and got lucky. Not sure the team is that much better than a year ago. We over achieved. In short its a shrug of the shoulders from me as I am underwhelmed.
New MD confirmed. See website. https://www.leedsunited.com/news/club-news/21933/angus-kinnear-we-will-become-a-formidale-force
I agree with Chippy, we may have got more points but some of the overall performances weren't great. All too often we were overwhelmed in midfield. He got more out of Chris Wood than I ever thought we'd see though. Not convinced by Karanka or Mazzarri as replacements.
What a load of rubbish, monks agent asked Leeds not to take up the 12 month option, and as Leeds didn't want a manager not 100% committed we agreed.
This news for me far outweighs Monk leaving, great appointment as far as I am concerned and we can do better than Monk This guy has been rumoured for a while, glad it came off. He helped Arsenal move ground and he helped West Ham secure the Olympic stadium, watch this space, Leeds will own Elland Road before this time next year
