Hmmn evening post article saying he will actually sign in the summer. Must be in loan contract that the fee is payable on signing of the contract not start date.

So unless there's a separate pre-contract agreement, sounds like it's verbal.

Chippy, it could well be a pre-contract agreement he's signed. That happens all the time when players reach the last six months of their contract, they're free to do that with their next club. Also he'll still be on the loan contract with us till the end of the season, which we've probably already paid a fee for.

And maybe we'll only have one owner by then who can't put money in now because their 50/50 partner won't and it is too risky in the meantime - time will tell

All joking aside, whatever the reasons, it looks like pontus will be around for a long time. Long time since I've seen such a bond between fans and a player. All good

Jansson, Leeds and Torino have signed off the agreement now that the 22 game limit has been reached .. agreement was that Leeds get him for £3.5m in summer, there is no fcuk up here, deal is done and Jansson is in effect a Leeds player now

Pedraza was a first choice, his deal took a bit of time because:

    a) he was contracted to Lugo to end of season, and they needed to agree to release him first and foremost (similar to Martin and the Fulham/Derby fiasco)

    b) a fee needed to be agreed with Lugo to buy out his loan contract, and Villarreal as parent club had to pay it (£300k was finally agreed)

    c) Leeds had to pay Villarreal the £300k back as part of the new loan agreement, and this was funded by Rad, who only arrived at ER in January, so that would have affected movement

    d) Leeds also wanted a buy option in July, and therefore a future transfer fee needed to be agreed .. the clubs finally shook hands on £8.5m if Leeds get promoted, and this negotiation would have taken time as well .. now, there is no way that Leeds are going to agree such a large fee for a player who isn't one of Monk's key targets

    e) the player needed to agree to leave Lugo, where he was on fire, and move to a new country and league .. he also needed to agree a future transfer and wages and commit to driving Leeds to promotion, a fcuking huge decision for a 20-year old

bottom line, we now have Pontus tied down (along with Pablo), and that will have a big effect on the dressing room in terms of influencing others to commit their futures to Leeds .. it will also send a statement of intent to the Championship, and lift the Leeds players and fans at just the right time

in Pedraza we clearly have signed a talent, and he now has the opportunity to prove his worth .. if he fails, Leeds haven't got a lemon on a long term contract (shrewd work by Monk) .. however, Pedraza has come through Spain's international system all the way to the U19s (think they won the Euro Champs), and he is earmarked to represent Spain at U21s as well .. one thing we know, you need to have a high level of quality and attitude to progress through Spain's international setup that way, so fingers crossed he settles quickly at Leeds and makes a huge impact on the field

    on on on
