Still read the book every few years; dangerous business if on local transport and people know you! How did Dame Edna make it big with this gem in the background? Not adverse to hiring the odd research assistant during visits to Koln, Munchen or Paris however currrent poor exchange rate has severely curtailed this 'exercise'.
I'm probably a bit behind the times here, but I have to confess to not having heard the name Marian Kamensky before today. He's a Slovakian cartoonist of note. I've been scrolling through his work and loving it, but I've found one I can't understand. Anyone got any ideas of what he's saying? What's with the dog and paper in the foreground and the two men in the distance? And the frustration of having the ladder intertwined in the legs of what I suppose is a dunny? please log in to view this image
Super cartoon, Cyc, words are hardly necessary? Cartoonist is leaving it all to our imagination? Quite an "Arts" thread, this? We have now reached a song called "Ich Mach Mein Ding". Important piece of personal apparatus for most of one's life, but I have never felt like singing about it. I wonder if any other forum members have ever felt like doing so? Oh, maybe he's not singing about that? Difficult to understand what the hell he's singing about, even though I do speak a bit of Deutsch. He must be from the north?
Simple and innocent me thought it was about the choice to 'live' in a suite in the Atlantic Hotel in Hamburg and his general lifestyle of boozing and carousing at seventy. I, in my Calvanist purity, did not connect 'Ding' with Mr Berry's 'Ding-A-Ling'. If there is any hint that this song title has any connection or intimates a reference to the male sexual organ Mr Lindenberg will be immediately removed from my favour and his CD's, of which I have recently ordered another four using Amazon.de as a marketplace provider, will be burnt in the streets of Edinburgh. Your non-liberal Liberal! To close there is nothing smutty or lewd about my recent fascination with a German actor who appears in another clip from the 2016 tour; the delightful and cherubic Josephin Busch.
A number of years ago, I often used to run into Doro Pesch on a poker site. She seemed like a nice person.
Not quite my cup of tea, more 'blues' tinge required, however I notice Ms Pesch is a native of Dusseldorf. If she fancies a wee drink and a touch of socialising she is welcome to catch the S-bahn down to Koln in October where I will be taking up residence for a number of nights at the Mercure City Koeln Friesenstrasse. Ho-hum!
We are now entering 'Carry On' territory! I shall however fall into your obvious and well laid (?) trap; I think I would rather spend a few hours with either of Josephin's or Doro's 'pussies' than dear old Mollie's! Sorry for this ageist and clearly anti English comment!
Heck, BK, I dunno either. I am not interested in rock stars like Udo L., and did not look-up the lyrics as it is not music to me, just a noise, but I did wonder what on earth he was singing about, and could not understand him. Forget it, not important.
Something from the master impressionist himself, Claude Monet. He seemed to find such peace and contentment in those days of long-ago. Difficult to find a like tranquility nowadays, in this crazy world we live in?
Good day, Cyc. You have found a great cartoonist here. Here's many samples of his output. Brilliant IMHO! http://www.cartoonmovement.com/p/7271
No, not at all Cyc. That's one of his cartoons I don't much care for. I have lived in this country for a long time so I think I know what I am talking about. The Bürger are just simply, totally fed-up (especially in Bayern, and probably Köln and all points north too) with the status quo, and are disenchanted with Merkel and Co. That's all. It is difficult to figure-out a truly democratic way to get them out.
I look upon my 'uncles' Uli and Kalle as some UK subjects look upon their monarch; they do not defecate like we mortals!
