The U18s are off to holland, playing in the Esad Osmanovski Memorial Cup this weekend. Appropriately each club in the tournament is only allowed 18 players, so it's going to be tough since the youngsters have to play 3 games on Saturday and 2 on Sunday. The up-side is that each game is 50 minutes; 25 each half.

This is the first time the lads have been invited here and in the openers on Saturday are in a Group with Belgian side KAA Gent, Dutch outfit SC Heerenveen, and Ghana’s Attram de Visser Soccer Academy.

Head of Academy Coaching, Steve Wigley welcomed the experience, even though with the age difference we always end up being a young team. [the European academic years starts in January, and ours start from August] And more so this time round as he explained, “unfortunately we’ve got a few injuries at the minute, but that just gives some of the young ones an opportunity, and anytime you go and play against top teams from the continent you’ve got to learn something."

Great start for the lads. They beat Gent 1-0 in their first game, thanks to a first half goal by Elijah Adebayo.

It's been a 1-0 sort of day for the youngsters. In the second game they triumphed again 1-0, Elijah Adebayo scoring (again). However in the third game that scoreline was rversed as we went down 1-0 to to Attram de Visser.

Not a bad day though with the lads finishing 2nd in the Group, so take on Wereder Bremen in the semi-final

All square at 0-0 after extra time and guess what .. we lost on a penalty shoot out!

Great effort all said and done by the youngsters however.
