Looked pretty horrific and broken his fib and tib. That's a tough injury to come back from. I wish him a quick recovery, I don't like to see poor challenges like that with the outcome pretty obvious.
I did the same thing about 10 years ago playing on AstroTurf - stood up and tried to walk off what transpired was a broken ankle still walked to my car - totally couldn't drive it though.
Worse I've done was knee ligaments! Realised something was wrong having to lift my leg to get into my car also!
Walked home after a game with a broken ankle Walked to pub with a snapped planta fascia (I think that's how you spell it?) which is the bit under your foot that makes your foot arch. Had a few beers then went home and it went black. Dr in A&E brought people in to look at how bad it was!
I slipped running to catch the train at Brough into Hull for Hull College. Walked to Hull College from the Station - went to 3 lectures - realised my toe was not right, walked to Hull Royal infirmary from Hull College and an X-Ray showed a broken big toe.
Drank **** knows how much. Cycled home. Speeding downhill. Traffic lights. Lost control. Hit kerb. Over handlebars. Left hand down to save me. Bike wrecked. Pushed it home. Fell asleep. Next morning discovered that my thumb was touching the inside of my wrist. Hot-footed it down to Casualty. Dislocated and broken thumb.
The left back in my veterans team suffered a really bad double fracture, early in the season, away at Hornsea. We had a couple of lads who were working at places where redundancies were on the cards and who couldn't risk any time off and others who were self employed and simply couldn't afford to miss any work. We had trouble putting a team together for the next few weeks.
