Chambers or Gibson at Boro would suit me.

I agree. I think we could do with a couple of old boys who properly know what they are doing and will make sure the rest of them do also. Terry & Carrick would be ideal.

He'll be away for a pay day in America I suspect, but didn't him and Rafa not see eye to eye while Rafa was at Chelsea? If he is still good enough then he'd be great for a season or two and would help Lascelles and Mbemba develop.

No to John Terry. Not only is he past it, wages would be astronomical and to boot he is a knob of a human being (in my opinion)

    Carrick yes, Terry no.

Past it, and always made to look better at Chelsea by playing alongside the likes of Carvalho, Ivanovic etc.

Would much prefer Shawcross if we could get him. If we can't I still wouldn't want Terry as I don't think his legs will stay be there by the time he gets here.

I think Terry is possibly just that little bit too old. I imagine the US, China or Austrailian football beckons. That said he may have even missed that boat at 36.

I like Chambers a lot. He isn't a leader though. Gibson is and he would be absolutely ideal. I would think he'll have better options than us sadly. I also think Maguire has leadership qualities. Its a shame Jose went to Man U as Phil Jones was starting to look frozen out. I think he would have been a great signing if discarded as he hasn't fulfilled his obvious potential.

The reality for Newcastle is we will be looking at a Maguire type signing. Someone with leadership who can be developed. It was discussed yesterday about budgets and how we could get round the issues. Say you could get Gibson, Defoe, M'Vila for your spine. Surely the money wouldn't be astronomical. 2 of the 3 are probably non starters but this is what we need to focus on - filling the key positions and getting the right types.

The thought of lascelles partnering Terry at the back is frightening
    In its awfulness
