I remember Man Utd losing 5-0 to Newcastle when they were champions - was the season after Newcastle bottled it.
Utd walked through our midfield at ease in the first half!! Much better 2nd half, great goal from Gray, who must start on Tuesday.
Danny Drinkwater - what an enigma. Was absolutely awesome at covering the ground and winning the ball but the worst offender for giving it away again. Get the ball under control and keep possession. Those first time long balls never gave our forwards a chance and played straight into United's hands. Too many players wandering around aimlessly and jogging back when they get beat. At three nil down you should be busting a gut to get back, not jogging. Amartey was totally lost and Mahrez was like Pansy Potter again. Too many players with eyes on the Porto match?
You got a point that needs addressing Ed... though I also think starting 4-4-2 away at places like OT Anfield Arsenal and Chelsea is a no no now... the one possible exception at a push would be Spurs !
I said it before and I'll say it again- we need fighters away from home! would like to see Kapustka given a game before he gets pi**ed off with not given a chance.
Man Utd played with an intensity that we haven't seen from Leicester this season. They pressed us high and all over the pitch. All we did was concede possession because we tried to play too many one touch lay-offs rather than try to slow it down and spread the play. That's 3 humiliating defeats this season away from home with no fight or bite in the side. We need to stick a fifth midfielder in against the better teams and protect the centre of our defence which is suddenly looking very old and slow. Get to half time still in the game and then see what we can nick in the second half. You can't win a game by half time but you can certainly lose one. Not sure where Kapustka would fit in, but we seem to have several recent signings - Mendy, Amartey, Kapustka, Musa - who are on the fringe but don't yet seem to have a definite role.
... don't think it's as simple as that ... Kante played in a Chelsea team that got taken apart in much the same way by Arsenal...and was helpless to do anything about it ... ...teams are now wiser to us and are also exploiting the lack of mobility of Wes and Huth ..when you have someone who can time a run like Ibra and a player who can spot a ball like Pogba, that's gonna undo you... ...problems go deeper...we need to stop giving the ball away so cheaply ..and we need to take our chances...easily said ... Grey and Schlupp both did well when they came on ...food for thought for Claudio ..but no need for panicking...
...United also lost 6-1 at home to City either as defending champions or during a successful title campaign... results like that happen and no point dwelling...we are still going very well at home and need to carry that on whilst addressing the things that are undoing us away from home against the better sides...
What we are missing is the basics that we had last season. Seems to me that what won the league was fight and determination with pace and skill to back it up. We have been taken apart by two teams (poss 3 - didnt see the Hull match) because the determination and fight have been lacking. Having won the league, it seems that a number of our players think they are better than they are, and need to get back to that fight that made me so proud last season. Eyes off the Champions League boys, and focus on the next match only.
