Think the first half showed most teams will have worked last seasons team out. Other than Okazaki's header we never created much but still looked very comfortable. Second half we were much better. Musa and Gray look like they could have good seasons but Mendy is definitely no Kante on that showing. Could/should have won it, not really worried that we lost as it was still pretty experimental. Good season coming up.
How often have UTD won games like the one v your lot today, its only a frendly, but its a big win for UTD
Last season not many times at all. Was watching this game with a pure blooded Man Utd supporter and he didn't enjoy the game - said the second half reminded him too much of LvG with Fellani staying on the field even though he was awful. The man is a liability at DM as proven by his great assist for Vardy. Still you've won - good luck for the rest of the season.
Musa and Vardy together looks one hell of a partnership Vardy looked extremely sharp considering his lack or pitch time
Gray woeful? I'm not sure what game you watch sometime Ed mate lol All about opinions though I guess. Very encouraging 2nd half I thought though with Musa and Gray being introduced Wet the appetite nicely for the new season
Im usually really nervous watching our lot (seeing us in League 1 will do that to a fan) but I was genuinely never worried throughout that match. I knew a scrappy goal would be conceded (that's football) but we looked composed and Man U created very little. I still think Simpson (despite his clear determination to improve which should be applauded) is our weak link: he stands off tackles far too much. A big problem for us could be deciding which team to start. We have so many options now! I suspect Albrighton will be dropped for Gray as the season progresses. For me Shinji and Gray have been our best players during pre-season.
... everybody is entitled to their opinion of course ... but the commentator's was that we were looking the more likely to score a second as our attacks were more incisuive and cutting ... looked like we had a good shout for a pen at the end too ... Ibrahimovic was offside and I susoect if Ulloa had cchallenged a United centre-back and scored a similar goal the ref would have blown for a free kick ... but then I am a little biased ... ... not unhappy with ther result or the performance ... we are getting better and better game by game and we have some incredibly exciting talent in our team ... gonna be another exciting season and Vardy and Musa are going to cause defences all sorts of nightmares ... ... great to see Christian Fuchs back to something like his best ...
Not sure what you are on about with Gray - was a bright spark for us. King and Mahrez were rather disappointing though - hopefully it was just rust.
Have to agree King and Mahrez were very poor yesterday! I have never rated King so it is just my opinion, Mahrez on his day is a great player but unfortunately has to many games were he is just a passenger and now has to show a lot more consistency for himself and the team.
There was nothing in the game at all and 3 glaring errors decided the game. Definitely not a game worthy of title of "Champions vs Cup winners". United's Bailly looks a seriously good player. Should have been sent off mind you. Ibrahimovic was very poor. The entire game was full of 4's, 5's and 6's with a smattering of 7s. The standard was awful.
Bailly looked good but look like he has a mistake in him Our best player was Vardy followed by Drinkwater
... as I posted elsewhere, i was releived to see Fuchs performing back to his old level ... United got little change from him in the first half .... ... being brutally honest ... King and Albrighton look more like bench warmers than first choices for the coming season ....
If King and Mahrez had poor games at least we know there is improvement in them. Rooney is on the other side of the curve.
Thats what i got out of it, and Simpson needs to keep his concentration too, though he won't be playing Martial every week. Would rather see Hernandez as Huths replacement at CB than as a RB.
