Too much news already this week so no press conference from the Gaffer today. All seem well however, although Petsos is out having done something to himself in training and Cairney is camouflaging a sore foot after the Bristol City game. Don't think it's enough to keep him out of this game though.

Colin opted out of the Cup but, as the guys say on the other thread, he's not only got them playing as a team since then but also scoring goals. They'll be without Rhys Healy after he did ligaments in the 5-0 win over Rotherham last weekend. However it will mean Junior Hoilett coming back into the side. The good news is that it's unlikely that Peter Whittingham will play.

Oh and just to keep up with the Jonses, Colin's got himself a new one year deal today.

For us reckon the way to go is press them high and put pressure on the weak spots; Piazon to give Bamba another roasting and Aluko to torment Jazz Richards. Striker is continuing to be a troublesome one however and the overweight Martin didn't offer any relief when he came on against Bristol. Don't see any significant changes in our line-up then but maybe an adjustment in format:

    ......................Button...
    ..........Odoi.....Kalas....Ream..
    ...................McDonald...
    .......Cairney...Johansen..Sessegnon..
    ....Aluko...........Kebano...........Piazon...

What about the chances of Fredericks coming back into the team? Arguably his best game of the season was at Cardiff in the cup, he gave them some real problems that day with his pace bombing up and down the right side.

I know we won midweek without an out and out striker but I'd still like to see us start with a striker. We have plenty of pacey guys up top but none of them seem to be clinical enough, they all need 3-4 chances per game to score 1 goal. Lets see what Cyriac can do from the start.

The man in charge today is Scott Duncan.

So far this season Scott has handed out 79 yellows and 9 reds in his 25 games. He was doing all right up until the New Year but since then a rush of blood has seen the part time prison instructor dish out 7 of those reds in his last 9 games.

Fortunately when we saw him it was at the beginning of the season, back in August when we went up to Blackburn and won 1-0. Of the 3 that got booked that day, the one of ours that Scott carded was Scott Parker. Hope to goodness Malone doesn't play today.

Really a good opportunity to get an important 3 points - will push Leeds & Wednesday.

Presume Neil Warnock was at Bristol City on Wednesday, so let's see how he set's Cardiff up to neutralise our hard-working midfield - we ran the show. Hope not it's a repeat the continued fouling of TC - I counted at least 5 (unsurprisingly TC reacted to the final one), so I wan't to see some protection from Mr Duncan.

Agree that up-front is the question - Starting with Cyriac is a good option.

We could have, should have nicked this one by all accounts. But those defences lapses and the killer instinct/composure up front. In the end a hard won and welcomed point though.

The bad news is that Lucas Piazon has a broken jaw.

Makes you wonder what might have been if he hadn't had to go off after only 20 minutes.

Yep definitely GS's fault. I haven't said anything complimentary about Piazon on this forum recently... <doh>

At least we have some depth in that position and a players can play with a broken jaw to some extent.

We need to win our next two home games (and I'd always rather have points on the board), but we're definitely still in the playoff hunt.

Today elsewhere means we more than held our own; a point gained on Reading, Wednesday & Derby, none lost to Huddersfield & Barnsley. And as Surly says next two games are biggies - Preston and Leeds.

Must say once again, although there are some who disagree how we could do with Dembele,.
Has he got an ego ? so what ,he has allready bagged 20 goals for Celtic, me thinks with him
and Slavis seasons signings we would now be in the playoff position

Today was a good point against an inform team. but we really needed 3 points to put extra pressure on the top 6.
In March we have 4 home games (Preston, Leeds, Blackburn & Wolves) and need to take maximum points from these to set us up for a run in. And gaining any points away at Newcastle would be good.

Ifs, buts and maybes Rosc. There's no denying he would have done well, imo, but he'd made up his mind to go. There's nothing the club could have done I don't think.

That's probably true Craving, at least when it came to the crunch time of his contract running out. However the Club could most certainly have managed his development better; from the time of Jol through to Kit. Just as Jokanovic is now doing with youngsters Ryan Sessegnon and Dennis Adeniran, who was on the bench yesterday.
