A win for the home team would take them 1 point clear of their opponents, whilst a Sunderland victory would most likely propel them clear of the relegation zone. Arguably, this is Swansea's most important home match in the PL since promotion. A victory would be a huge fillip for the Swans and hopefully will be the springboard for climbing the table, whilst defeat would see the Swans well and truly staring relegation in the face. The teams come into the match on the back of hugely different performances - last time out, the Swans suffered a humiliating 0-5 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur, whilst Sunderland recorded an impressive home victory over reigning champions, Leicester City. The Swans desperately need to find a cure for their defensive frailties - having conceded 9 goals in the last 2 games and 31 in total so far this season - the worst record in the PL....... Swansea and Sunderland have played each other on 32 occasions, with the Swans winning 8, Sunderland 13 & 11 draws. In the corresponding fixture last season, Sunderland ran out 2-4 winners in a controversial match which saw the Swans "incorrectly" reduced to 10 men & Jermaine Defoe scoring a hat-trick. Turning to Saturday, this is very much a must win game for the Swans, but with confidence at a low ebb, and with the pressure very much on them, I think that the Swans will struggle and will go down 1-3.
Extreme defensive measures must be taken for this one so... Fab Fernandez , Amat, Mawson , VDR Britton Barrow , Fer , Siggy , Montero Llorente Not taking advantage of Llorente's possible confidence, after the Palace game, and not starting him against the Spurs last game was criminal IMO.
We have the players to beat Sunderland, but I'm not convinced we have the manager. Don't be surprised to see Sunderland playing with either two or three in their strikeforce away from home, just as Palace did, which makes it even more embarrassing when we start games at home without even one.
Sunderland done us over like a kipper last season and they can do it again with Defoe....They are a poor side but are better than us all day long......0-3 no problem....
Tut,Tut all this doom and gloom. Yes Defoe will get a brace and Amat will get his first for Swansea, then we will hit the cross bar and get a deflected goal there will be a penalty each and to finish our sub will come on and get the winner! So predictable!
Sunderland have been playing better football than us for most of the season and they look doomed so what do we look like to other teams....I bet every team would love to play us every game we are so poor.......
Hope the weather for the game is good , going to minus 27 celcius ... celceus ... not Fahrenheit ...here most of the week as a low.
Spurs game showed we cannot hold our shape, and unless we attack for 90 minutes (Which we won't) then we will lose on saturday, I'm going to be positive and go for a 2-2 draw, but I think we will lose this 3-1, and it will be Bob the builders last game, Curtis will then take the next few games, while our hapless board decide on the next Rookie to bring in............
What about global warming? I have to think we can win this but we have to put out a team that will get at them. Still worried about the backs and we will concede. 3-2 Swans.
