I felt for Clement as the latter part of the game unfolded, he was as good as helpless. He's had no back-up thus far from the owners or the board. In his attempt to get at least something from the game when we were losing 1-0, he must've turned to his bench for the options & been totally dismayed. He effectively took 2 players off & brought 1/2 a player on, that's the lack of quality of the 2 substitutes, Narsingh was the 1/2 by the way...

By changing the players/formation, he was at least trying something of course. But the change to 4-2-3-1, from the more organised 5-3-2, with the lack of quality in our side, left us totally exposed. Fer is not disciplined enough to be one of the 'sitting 2' & by then, compounded by a tiring Carroll, it left us horribly exposed & thus the centre-back pairing too!! The inevitable was waiting to happen...

Thinking of it as it unfolded in front of me. Maybe he could've brought Fulton on for the tiring/limping Roque, pushing Fer up to the Icelandic role & played Ayew out left, such was the ineffectiveness of Routledge in this game & just about any game, for that matter.

The score-line seemed very harsh on us & I quite liked the 5-3-2 formation as an option, but need quality wing-backs for it to be effective. Thought the back 3 were sound as a whole, apart from Mawson's moments. Sometimes needs to remember he hasn't fully made it yet....

I was really angry at the end with the board. They've got 12 days to bring in serious quality, not just 2 or 3 players, we need 2 or 3 of quality, with also at least 2 more additions to the squad, just to compete. Trouble is, can we really see it's going to happen. I fear not & if that's the case, it's going to get pretty 'ugly' down the Liberty if our fortunes follow last season...

What we need and what Jinx thinks we need are two different things, we simply should never be in a position where we have to start a 19 year old rookie up front, after 7 seasons in the Premier league, we are looking threadbare, and you can thank the ****ers we have in the boardroom for all this, what a way to run a club, Jenkins is now the problem to our progress............<ok>

Well Landon Donovan was there - I saw him & Jinx together before the game.

Let's hope they invest in quality - 12 days of the window left. 12 days of Christmas for us?

Exactly , we're now an established PL Club but I'm afraid more off it than on. we're had time and the bloody to develop and have a competitive squad of players but yet again we're scrabbling around looking for bargain basement cast offs .

It's absolutely unforgivable that you can run a business that's seen the benefit of Sky/BT money alone, for 6 years (7th season now) & not have funds to do our priority transfer business in early July, without the need to first sell your Stellar best player first to release funds...

Fully agree - it's embarrassing that Bournemouth for example came up after us & have become more established than us. Whilst Huddersfield have demonstrated far more ambition in this window......

We are the "new Sunderland" - US owners fecked them up and it was only a matter of time before they were relegated.......

I still think he's going to Chelsea tbh. I remember as a very young kid watching Cantona playing with his hand in a cast.
