http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spor...underlands-jan-kirchhoff-set-another-12757985 Jan Kirchhoff has suffered yet another injury setback - and is now unlikely to be back in action for Sunderland until May. The German midfielder underwent a knee cartilage operation in December and boss David Moyes had hoped he would be fit to rejoin the club’s Premier League campaign either late this month or at the beginning of April. Kirchhoff made his comeback for the Black Cats’ U23 side less than a fortnight ago, playing for just over an hour against Manchester United at Eppleton, but Moyes has revealed the 26-year-old suffered a reaction to the injury which will delay his first-team return by at least a month. Moyes says Kirchhoff’s knee swelled up after that game against Man U with Sunderland sending him back to visit the surgeon who had conducted his operation, and the medical advice is now that Kirchhoff will be out for a minimum of four weeks - with six weeks a more realistic timescale --------------------------------------------------------- Not many on here shouting for a 5 year contract for him any more are there?
Unfortunate as he's a much better player than we have, I think a John Mensah mk2 would be more appropriate, could play for one of the best if he was fit most weeks.
Absolutely - he's not just next level for us but he's next next level if he's fit all the time - I doubt we'd have got him from Bayern if he'd been in the "Defoe" fitness style
So it looks like well be seeing the season out with what we've had since the New Year, can't see us getting much mileage out of Catts and Vic either, pity.
If we were where WBA are we would have a fully fit team and going on good runs ! that's our luck though, and what's up with Cattermole 9 months out as well.
Was really looking forward to his return to the team in probably the worst midfield we have had for years all be it to injuries, today is the day regardless of previous escapes ,can anybody imagine DM putting fire into the players desire before games, nothing there at all that can be seen anyway.
But we knew what we were getting when we bought him. If not for his well documented proneness to injuries we wouldnt have had a look in. Often the case with us, when we do bring in genuine quality they often come with baggage.
True that. You don`t get players of that quality at that price without good reason. It just doesn`t happen.
I was talking to some German lads over the weekend, both Bayern Munich fans. When I mentioned Kirchhoff they laughed and said excellent player, couldn't stay fit. They weren't in the least bit surprised that he'd hardly played this season.
