There are two reasons why the Mackems will most likely beat us.

1- They need the points more
    2- They are at home

They also have a new manager in place who will pull out the stops to get the fans onside from day 1.

New manager effect. Sunderland always change theirs just before a derby. Pretty sure we were pdc and Gus 's first victories. So a hat trick is on the cards. On the other hand, if we do beat Sunderland, they are in seriously deep trouble. 2-1 defeat I reckon.

This game is massive for both clubs - and way beyond the usual local rivalry.

A win for us would almost secure our PL status, while a defeat would heap pressure on a team already struggling. I hate to think what might happen!

As for Sunderland, a defeat would put them in deep, deep trouble - even with a new manager.

Gonna be a very nervous build up for both sets of fans.

Sunderland to win 3-0 25/1, rubbish odds we cannot beat South shields 3-0 at the minute. The most boring derby of all time I reckon. And a defeat for us would mean something will kick off in that dug out after the match, them lazy get players might cop it. You lot are safe on 35 points. I think it is between us or Hull (Villa are jammy twats) who will go down, I reckon Burnley might do it at home.

Villa will, sadly pull away now. They're safe as houses IMHO.

Off topic I know but see Steve Gerard will be missing when we play Liverpool due to his stamping on Herrera in todays game. Dirty bast.rd.

Two ****e teams, two ****e managers. One club needing the points more and the beginning a new manager honeymoon period. 2-0 to the scum.

Love the chicken dance image, never forgotten. Happy days. The likes of Carroll, Nolan, Barton, Simpson, Raylor, Jose, Jonas knew what was required in a derby. This bunch of fairies haven't the foggiest.

Our current side is one of the worst we've ever had. At least in the past we had players that had passion for derbies. This lot are about as passionate as a marmite sandwich. Another derby defeat so **** them. Until Mike Ashley either ****s off or dies we won't win another derby.

In all my years i cannot remember not being bothered about a derby match. Both teams are an absolute disgrace to the supporters of both clubs. To be honest half of them are not fit to wear the shirts and should be nowhere near the first team. Ashley has gradually destroyed Newcastle over the years, and will continue to do so as long as he gets massive TV money. Sunderland seem to spend money, but on **** players that go there for a big pay day.

When you pay talentless muppets thousands of £'s per week it's inevitable that they won't give a damn. They don't care since they get paid regardless. Saw a pic of Fletcher posing with his Lamborghini. How the **** an average pile of **** like him even earns the money to buy something like that is a mystery. The same is true of the crap playing for us. They don't care. They get paid win, lose or draw. I couldn't give a damn about the derby this year. It's not a proper derby any more. It's 11 prima donnas [mostly foreign], playing against another 11 prima donnas [largely foreign.] I said above that in the past we have had **** players, but at least they had passion. This lot couldn't give a damn. Sammy Ameobi is a case in point. He is utter dog **** and to boot is the laziest sack of **** I have ever seen. How he is a professional footballer is beyond me. Modern football though. Pay donkeys a fortune. Ridiculous.

I wish Sky would just **** off and take their TV money with them.

Ameobi is an enigma to me he keeps the ball close enough when running but defenders find it very easy to take the ball off him, I see a lot to like but he still has a lot to learn , anyone point out his faults ?

He misses the simple pass, he often doesn't look up and in general he can strut around in a very lazy manner .

At a guess, I think it's the speed at which he can make a physical decision. So with Aguero, Silva, Nasri, etc., it's small players, low centre of gravity, just quicker movement of feet. I just think with Sammy you can kind of see it coming easier, if that makes sense? Perez/Ameobi is a great on-pitch comparison!

Fredor - Lazy, brainless, can't beat the first man with a cross, loses possession with alarming regularity, lazy, can't pass, can't trap a ball with any consistency, lazy. Just another Ameobi all told.

He can get you a lot of corners is the positive (which we then waste) and he is reasonably quick.
