2.40 Leopardstown- SPACE CADET- 10/1 ew

Had a decent run at Punchestown and is off a competitive mark - Davy would have surely ridden him today had he had not been carrying such a feather weight. (Davys ride - VUKOVAR- formerly with Harry fry is an interesting runner for the big man, has some decent form over here and off a decent mark be interesting if the money comes late for him.)JJ Burke not long back from injury is a good jockey and this could be a prime ride to get him back in winning ways

    3.10- PUNCHESTOWN- VEINARD- 16/1 ew

Although this race is all about Tony Martin and most like Heartbreak City who will probably win but can't be taking the 9/4 in a race like this- my pick again Elliot will have his runners primed for these big handicaps. His second to Thats A Wrap whilst beating a few of this field looks decent enough but meets him on betterr terms today and with jack Kennedy on board and a featherweight he looks to have a good ew chance

2.40 Leopardstown Bentelimar 12/1. Ultra-consistent over hurdles, this son of Beneficial has had a bit of a baptism of fire over fences, running into Identity Thief, American Tom and Children's List in his 3 races to date and being well beaten each time. That has led the assessor to give him an opening mark of 135 and with his jockey taking off 5lbs he looks to have been given a chance here, having consistently run between 140 and 145 over hurdles. Today's trip and going hold no concerns and he looks unexposed enough over fences to play a role at the business end.

3.10 Leopardstown That's A Wrap 7/1. Despite the race being towards the end of January the ground has come perfect for That's A Wrap and he can continue his progression here despite another 7lbs rise for winning over Christmas under a memorable Ruby Walsh ride. Some bloke called Geraghty riding today ;) but I stil expect him to go close.

E/W singles and the obligatory Barney Rubble.

The Coral Hurdle looks a belter and shows how strong top Irish handicaps are, Tudor City is a massive price and being nibbled. Surely he can't beat his two stablemates?

Has been very progressive while running on good ground. He was ninth in a good grade B hurdle in November after winning three in a row. I would forgive him his last run as the ground wasn't right for him. He's got good each way claims here.

Killer Crow 2.40 ew @ 22s. Good ground (by Presenting), feather weight and getting backed. Good luck all (but mostly me as I couldn't pick my fooking nose at present).

Yorkhill doesn't just jump to the left, he goes violently to the left and was in danger of hitting the wing of a couple of fences. I'd suggest he might struggle with a horse up his inside at Cheltenham, could easily end in disaster. It will be crucial that Ruby has him in the right position. Chapman rightfully dissing the bookies for shortening him <applause>

He has all the size and scope, and sometimes his fencing looks effortless. However, some of those jumps were violently left.

Everyone still 100% certain it will be JLT and not the Arkle? He fizzed himself into the lead there and showed plenty of pace again.

He gives away a significant amount of ground at each fence when jumping left (even at left-handed Leopardstown today - his momentum kept carrying him left after the fence until Ruby straightened him up). The effect of this is of course diluted the further they go, no way could he give that much ground away to Altior in an Arkle, regardless of his engine.

    Yep, agreed.

It's just kind of ironic- MIN seems to be the more settles horse of the two this year.

It shows how good Ruby was at the festival to get him hard on the inside. If I was against him I'd be trying to force him wide

Might be a trait of Walk In The Park offspring - I think Douvan has really matured with age, was also quite fizzy as a novice hurdler?
