I see Mr Usmanov increased his already sizeable fortune by £4billion last year. How much of that will find its way to the squad, I wonder?
Usmanov has no impact at the club, he is a minority shareholder. He has offered to put up funds for players in the past and it has been declined.
Signed a new deal after the Barca game, this is a player that is too good for us, only Barca or Real Madrid would be able to tempt him from moving, also if he was a greedy bastard in terms of money, then the likes of Chelsea,PSG, Man City, Man Utd come into the equation.
they're all greedy bastards when it comes down to it..........who wouldn't be with the money being thrown at them
We won't buy anyone that anyone has heard as we are back to getting ****e on Bosmans No CL to offer will affect any dealings we had a chance of. Wenger will stay and our 2 best players will go - Ozil and Sanchez We will struggle for top 6 and it's all the board and Wenger's fault as we had no succession plan, and should get our players on longer contracts
Arsene Wenger on summer signings: “That will help them absolutely next season but first, I think we have to keep 90 percent of these players together, and find one or two more players who strengthen the group but we don't need a lot. We don't need many. But we need top quality.” Looking like another Arsenal summer ahead...
I knew this would happen, I've said so in two other posts. Wenger is a deluded fool of he thinks this team can break top 4 now. Next season will be even more uncomfortable...
Some exciting transfer news http://www.skysports.com/football/n...gn-henry-onyekuru-from-belgian-side-kas-eupen Wenger said we only needed a couple more additions to the squad, right? So this bloke, along with free transfer Kolasinac, is our Summer transfers out the way! At least we can't complain about Wenger not doing business early enough....
Too be fair he literally says this EVERY year. Then he will say 'If we can find someone of exceptional quality then we will add' He will also say 'We don't need to add anyone'
If he doesn't then he'll really struggle. He won't suddenly become a tactical genius over night to compensate. He needs to get some serious quality in to gain ground.
I genuinely think the squad we have has the ability to push for the title, I just don't think Wenger is able to motivate them or out-manage the better teams out there any more. Of course we can be strengthened in a number of positions but our number one priority should be to get the best out of what we already have and address why we're not. For me though, we need a shake-up at the top as well as bringing in a forward, LB (looks like it's done though I know feck all about the guy) and a huge upgrade on Coquelin.
I agree that the team is good enough to win but Wenger as a manager isn't good enough, that's why he needs better players just to get into the top 4 now. A better manager could get more from our current players, but then again, he might get rid of half of them. I don't think he's had a bad season by his own standards, our points tally reflects that. He's simply up against a better crop of managers who are tactically more astute and better motivators. In my opinion, the only way he'll be able to close the gap is to get better players. I won't hold my breath for a radical summer transfer window. I think Wenger will get a rude awakening come start of next season.
My issue is I genuinely can't think of any world class players that are available, that we can afford, and that would want to come to Arsenal. I would love Griezmann or mbappe but I just cannot see either joining us when other teams are in the running for them. I really wouldn't want to start another project of finding and gambling on unknowns either, so it's a tough pill to swallow.
