The Club have posted this: Senior squad: Floyd Ayité (Togo) – Friendly & Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier Tom Cairney (Scotland) – World Cup Qualifier Cyriac (Ivory Coast) – Friendly & Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier Stefan Johansen (Norway) – World Cup Qualifier & Friendly Tomas Kalas (Czech Republic) – Friendly & World Cup Qualifier Neeskens Kebano (Congo) – Friendly & Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier Chris Martin (Scotland) – World Cup Qualifier Under-21s: Lasse Vigen Christensen (Denmark) – European Championships Marek Rodák (Slovakia) – European Championships Interesting that they've included a few guys (Cyriac, Kalas and Martin) who are on loan, although guess technically the loans don't end till 31st May. They've also not been inclusive. Aron Davies and Peter Grant are going to a tournament in Toulon - Aron representing Wales U20s and Peter as the Assistant Manager to Scotland's U20s. Luca de la Torre is already performing for the USA in the U20 FIFA World Cup - he scored their equaliser against Ecuador in the 4th minute of stoppage time earlier today. And share a thought for Marlon Fossey. But for an injury (something fractured I think) he would be out there with Luca in those U20 World Cup games.
Another called up. Cauley Woodrow is in the England U21 squad headed for Poland for the Euopean Championship games mid-June. please log in to view this image Good on him making it back into the England group. Wasn't so long ago that he was ahead, and deservedly so, of the likes of Harry Kane and Saido Berahino in the U20 team.
Yeah well I've had my say on that one before, can't understand why he can't get a place in that squad. If memory serves right the one time he did get a call up he had to pull out through injury?
And now, it's an assist for Luca de la Torre as Josh Sargent scores to give USA U20s a 1- win over Senegal and go top of Group F.
More bad news on the injury front - Aron Davies has had to drop out of the Wales U20 side going to the Toulon tournament. Presumably he took a knock in the competition over in Holland last weekend when he captained the U18s. please log in to view this image
Luca de la Torre on the ball again. "The USA topped their U20 World Cup group with a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia in the Korea Republic, after getting sent down to 10 men just before the halftime whistle. Luca de la Torre made another vital contribution to the United States’ World Cup campaign inside the first half by helping set up their only goal, claiming his third assist of the tournament. He found some space 11 yards from goal in the 40 minute, and aimed a hard shot at the bottom right of the net. The Saudi keeper made a good save however Brooks Lennon was on hand at the back post to poke the ball home."
Tim Ream and Jesse Joronen are added to the call up list. "Ream’s United States begin with a friendly match against Venezuela in Utah, before home and away World Cup Qualifiers against Trinidad & Tobago and Mexico, respectively. Joronen also has a combination of fixtures to look forward to, with Finland hosting Liechtenstein in Turku in an exhibition game, before the competitive action gets under way with Ukraine in Tampere".
Tayo Edun and Ryan Sessegnon have been called up to the England U19 squad for a training camp in Spain ahead of this summer's European Championships. The pair will be flying out to Murcia next week with the rest of the 23-man squad, and will have further training at St George’s Park at the beginning on July. Their first game is against Bulgaria in Tblisi on Monday 3rd July, followed by the Netherlands three days later. Their final group match is against Germany on Sunday 9th July.
Luca de la Torre grabbed his third assist of the U20 World Cup in the USA’s 6-0 thumping of New Zealand in the Quarter Finals in Korea.
Decent run but Lucas de la Torre (number 20) and his US team went out in the next round 2-1 to Venezuela.
While Tom Cairney sat on Scotland's bench, here's how the other lads got on over the weekend: Tim Ream was an unused sub in the US team's 2-0 win over Trinidad & Tobago on Friday. However, he helped them to an important point in their World Cup Qualifier in Mexico on Sunday. He played the full 90 minutes as part of a back-three, and his side went in front early on through Michael Bradley’s stunning 40-yard lob. Mexico hit back through former Arsenal forward Carlos Vela to secure a 1-1 draw, which kept them top of their qualifying group, six points ahead of the States in third. In the European Qualifiers, Ragnar Sigurdsson was substituted in stoppage time as Iceland secured an excellent 1-0 win over Croatia in Reykjavik. Hoerdur Magnusson netted the winner in the final minute of normal time in unorthodox fashion, using his back to divert the ball into the net from a corner. Sigurdsson was then replaced by Sverrir Ingi Ingason as Iceland looked to wind the clock down, which they successfully did to move level on points with their opponents at the top of Group I. Stefan Johansen captained Norway as they came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic on Saturday. Theodor Gebre Selassie opened the scoring for the Czechs on 36 minutes but the home side replied through a Gunnar Heidar Porvaldsson penalty in the 55th minute. Johansen played the full 90, picking up a booking just after the goal. Tomas Kalas, who was on loan at Fulham for the 2016/17 season, was an unused substitute for the Czech Republic. The Norwegians have mustered four points from six games and lie fifth in Group C of the European World Cup Qualifiers, meaning they can no longer qualify automatically for the World Cup and only have a slim chance of qualifying through the Play-Offs. Lasse Vigen Christensen captained Denmark Under-21s to a 2-0 away win over Sweden U21s in a friendly on Saturday. The Danes scored both their goals in the second-half through Rasmus Nissen and Mikkel Duelund.
England U21s drew their Euro opener 0-0 with Sweden, thanks to a Pickford penalty save, Cauley Woodrow stayed on the bench but old boy Muamer Tankovic came on for the Swedes.
Cauley Woodrow was an unused substitute in their England U21s 3-0 win over Poland in the Euros. So he's still out there looking to get some time in the semi-final against Germany tomorrow. Unlike Lasse Vigen Christensen and Marek Rodák who are heading home. LVC captained the Danish side who had a convincing 4-2 victory over the Czech Republic. Denmark were in Group C, which was arguably the toughest group with both Italy and Germany progressing through to the semi-final, with the Germans as the best runner-up. Marek's Slovakia were even more unlucky. They were runners up in England's group but the German's pipped them for that best runner-up spot on goal difference.
No training day blues for Ryan Sessegnon and Tayo Edun. The pair have been named in the England U19s squad for the forthcoming European Championship in Georgia. England are in Group B alongside Bulgaria, the Netherlands and Germany and only the top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-final stage.
"Ryan Sessegnon was on target and Tayo Edun played the full 90 minutes as England began their U19 European Championship campaign with a 2-0 victory over Bulgaria. It took just 39 seconds for the Young Lions to make the breakthrough in the sweltering Georgian sun, with Chelsea’s Mason Mount finding the net with a low strike after good work down the right by his club teammate Dujon Sterling. Sessegnon then doubled the lead three minutes into the second half with a cool finish after breaking through one-on-one having linked up with Ben Brereton of Nottingham Forest. please log in to view this image The Fulham man was replaced by Manchester City’s Isaac Buckley-Ricketts with quarter of an hour remaining. The team are next in Group B action on Thursday when they take on the Netherlands."
Another full game for our pair, Ryan Sessegnon and Tayo Edun, as England U19s beat the Netherlands 1-0 in the Euro competition this afternoon. That pretty much seals a semi-final place for the England lads. Ryan had a big hand in the winning goal. please log in to view this image After he was picked out by Spur’s Marcus Edwards, Ryan rifled in a dangerous low strike which ricocheted off two Dutch defenders before dropping kindly to Ben Brereton of Nottingham Forest, who applied the finish.
Ryan Sessesgnon scored twice as he and his mate Tayo Edun played the full match in England U19's 4-1 win over Germany earlier today. They now play the Czech Republic in the Euro Semi-Finals next Wednesday. Here are clips of the two Sess goals -
The lad certainly has bags of potential, cant wait to see him perform next season. "Our top scorer" for 17/18 ?.
