What can a referee do on the pitch there and then if someone accuses someone of abusing them verbally? Seems like the only logical explanation for me as to why Evra waited until after the match. I can't think of many times a referee has awarded something because one player said something to another player.

And I have hearly heard a peep from either club since the couple of days after the match to be honest.

Some LFC fans actually reported that thing to the FA and got a reply, wonder if there are united counterparts doing the same to all dogleashes/Suarez's comments.

If you read United's forums instead of ours you might stumble upon the little gem your looking for Ivor.

 

Probably very soon now that they've given JT the chance to captain England again.

They'll probably deal with the two cases in a day of eachother and hand out the same verdict in both.

All those were after the FA asked clubs not to say anything. By my reckoning its SAF 1 LFC 3

4 if you want to count an official statement made by your club as commenting on the matter. Still at least were not pathetic enough to email the FA trying to cause trouble.

 

If Evra had approached the referee during the match, he would then have been made aware of the situation. He could have called the 2 players together and identified that he was aware and to stop it (he could even have one of Liverpool's Spanish speakers to translate for him). If the referee was made aware then he could keep a close eye (in this case ear) on what was happening. The referee could only take action if he or one of his assistants heared anything. By not making the referee aware then if anything was said of an abusive nature, it can be claimed that Evra colluded in it by not saying anything.

 

Unfortunately I strongly doubt that the hearing will settle the matter.

 

Why would'nt Suarez want to talk about it to the press in his home country?

Evra did'nt wait to talk to the press,he did it within half an hour of the game finishing.

 

Ivor: you've gone from LFC being the only ones breaching the FA's comment ban to admitting both clubs have but the "scores" in uniteds favour: seriously? Read your own post out loud, record it & play it back to yourself: sounds ridiculous doesn't it.

Both clubs are defending their player while veering over the FA's line. It's not a competition & I would expect nothing less from each club. In fact none of this is the competition you think it is: who's more racist, who lies more, who's got the worst character. It's not a continuation of the clubs rivalry on the pitch despite the attempts of some.

One player feels insulted/abused by another player. FA seems to believe at least an element of the accusation. The accused will present a defence & a decision will (hopefully fairly & openly made) either Suarez will walk free or will receive a punishment and then we can get back to football.

Or will you boast how previous united players have had much worse punishments than LFC players & took it like a man or "got away" with more!!!lol
