I believe he has quite a good goals and assists record from the right. Rafa played with a midfield 3 if i remember right so no need to have played him right wing. The best players are always played in their best positions to get the best out of them (or in messi and ronaldos case whereever they want to play).

One of the best in the prem maybe and i will give him the "best all rounder tag" but he was never a master like Keane/Vieira (defensively) or scholes/xavi/iniesta controlling a game or just a world class talent like zidane. I'd shade him a touch higher than frankie boy even though frank had way more goals and assists and they were both brilliant goalscoring midfielders. still though not the best ever or even close

oi oi. Might be my Jimmy like affection for overrated (in my eyes) english footballers. Just like i've never rated Rooney as world class or frank. Yea they were all great players but no where near my world class. Just my opinion although it has given me the added factor of being able to wum alongside it

Don't think we're saying he's the best ever..
Best ever to play for LFC, some say yes, some say just behind King Kenny..
One of the best to play in the Prem, def.
One of the best all round MFs in the Prem, again, he'd be high on that list..
A world great, not far off that list, there was a period between 2007-2009 where he was one of the best in Europe.
The fact that anyone and everyone of world football that's been a "great" in that period rates this fella highly tells us all how highly he was regarded by his peers and to be to honest, I think that opinion counts more than those of his biased fans and fans of other teams that may or may not have an agenda.

Gotta agree, the media does tend to hype up some of our players and teams..
Spurs being an example.. when they got the draw they did in this years CL, they dismissed the likes of Bayer and Monaco? But why? Both teams are packed full of talented players, playing in a well structured team, just because we've not heard of these players, doesn't make them poor!
PL is the richest league in the world, maybe the most entertaining to watch but don't fool yourself (not you, fans in general) into thinking its the best tactically or technically!

He wasn't shunted. He was so good in any poisition that he could be moved there to help strengthen the team and offer him freedom to link with the striker and Alonso masch and Alonso to control the middle.

His best goal goal scoring season was when he was 'shunted' to the wing.

Only player that you you could play RB, CM, RW or CF and still out perform most other players

I can accept people will come out with the he was one of the best but you hear that line trotted out for every half decent footballer from any footballer. To be fair to you, i did look a up and he was voted in by his peers in the the fifa world team 3 times so that's backed up. I won't change my mind though :p.

Alonso was so good you decided to play with 10 men? <laugh>

His Ma may like scouse cock, and he may like getting friendly with his team mates wife/girl friend, but, credit where due (as a player), he's been one of the best defenders in PL, not many better between 2005-2012..
David Luiz.. well, FIFA is corrupt, probably took a bung to get in! :D

Might I offer this is probably why England never did anything cos scholes was a far far better player than that suggests and imo was a narky little **** and that's why he sulked off. I had thought him terribly treated by England but the sulky head on him for past 3/4 years since utd dumped him out have shown he probably is quite difficult and could have easily played for England before either gerrard or lampard.

    Utd have never replaced him.

I agree. terry has magnificent game reading skills and defensive organisation, heading and scoring too. but he's just got too slow.

Luiz is a terrible defender, his antics in 2014 blew the home world cup for brazil and that summed him up perfectly.

He'd give Michael Owen a run for his money in the dull stakes

Shunted to the right? You mean when he actually had one of his most productive seasons in his career?

Not to mention playing off Torres to form one of the best partnerships in world football at the time?

Also I'm guessing Real Madrid aren't a superpower? it's rather amusing that you class Chelsea as a super power - you're not even the biggest club in London.

    :)
