Just seen this on the Talksport web page.....

    IPSWICH TOWN'S THREE TROPHY STARS

Ipswich Town have three stars on their shirt. Does this signify three top flight titles like Huddersfield? Nope. Multiple European success, like Liverpool? Nah. A hat-trick of FA Cups? No chance. Ipswich's three stars commemorate the three major trophies they've won; the First Division in 1962, FA Cup in 1978 and UEFA Cup in 1981. Why not chuck in the 1973 Texaco Cup win? Or the three Suffolk Premier Cups in 1968, '69 and '70? These have got to be the most ridiculous stars since the last series of Big Brother. :embarrassed:

    Any suggestions for your clubs?

Millwall could always pop two stars on for their two Western League Championships in 1908 and 1909!!

A weeds fan talking about winning something significant.

Probably doesn't understand the irony of having a name like "Itsalongwayback"...

Thanks for posting dates though, you have proved my point, the last time weeds won something significant? "Itsalongwayback"!

xLukewhatever - Are you sure it's me missing the irony. I made the name up. <doh>

You really need to chill out, the post was done to start some harmless banter but alas you've taken it all too serious.

By the way feel free to print Cardiff's list of honours and all your recent successes. Welsh cup doesn't count by the way.

So you're taking the piss by stating we've won the League, FA cup & UEFA cup?

Why are they ridiculous? Oh of course they're eclipsed by your League 1 runners up "honour"...

All your shirts should have a brown star on them as you Leeds fans are so special

    Yes, 100% sure.

And I need to chill out? I pointed out the irony of a leeds fan talking about winning something significant with the name "Itsalongwayback". It IS ironic, and because of that, it's funny, yet you respond like that and tell ME to "chill out"?

    Whats the matter, truth hurt?

Lukey you flid. You do know you can talk about your history and be proud of it while not presently being successful and having not been successful for a few years, right? I know small, unsuccessful clubs like Cardiff find that hard to appreciate having won like one major trophy ever in the 20s, but clubs who do have a rich history tend to be proud of them. For instance Man U, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Leeds, Aston Villa, Everton: all clubs who fondly remember their histories, or as fans of small clubs put it, "live in the past".

All Premiership teams, apart from one.

All presently successful, apart from one.

All with a realistic chance of actually doing something soon, apart from one.

That's why "small clubs" say you're living in the past, because in comparison to every other club named by yourself, you are.

I don't even see the point in your argument though, you're arguing on a success basis, but that wasn't anything to do with it.

Someone with the name "Itsalongwayback" made a joke about another teams failure to win something significant, despite his own clubs recent history being less than glorious. The irony of this, which I apologise for since it was obviously lost on you, being that as a fan of a team who haven't won anything for a while and with a name like "Itsalongwayback", he had the temerity to crack a joke about another team not winning anything for a while. That he was a weeds fan was rather insignificant. He could quite easily have been a fan of any team who have been unsuccessful lately, the irony would have still rung true.

So why are they not also "living in the past" because they have pride in their history? Because it's impossible to "live in the present" as a Championship team but suddenly does become possible to "live in the present" when you're in the Premiership? Just ****ing dross.

Who gives a toss about recent? I can see the irony if IALWB had been banging on about recent honours, but he plainly wasn't doing.
