Apart from the originals all the Star Wars films are pure ****e. The same goes for James Bond films - originals great, new ones ****ety **** ****
It's a teaser which tells us very little. I think the 2 newest ones have been alright and I'm looking forward to Ep VIII. A lot of people are hugely cynical about anything new in Star Wars but they seem to forget that it's not 1977 anymore and that they aren't 8 years old anymore.
Original Star Wars's were amazing, prequels were horrendous dogshit, but The Force Awakens was ace and Rogue One was freaking awesome. James Bond? Hmmmm, series went massively downhill with the Roger Moore films, and the Pierce Brosnan ones were ****e, Skyfall was the best Bond film ever though. This trailer looks okay, nothing more. The Thor Ragnarok trailer on the other hand has me spaffing profusely.
I haven't enjoyed any of the Disney reboots. Episode 7 was a total rip off that fed into all the 30/40 somethings that wanted nostalgia and Rogue One was average at best.
Looks like another load of old bollocks, albeit this time dragging poor old Hamill out of his slumber to snuff him out once and for all. Give me the prequels any day over this Disney ****. For all its ****ness, the last hour of ROTS is better than anything in Force Awakens.
I prefer Awakens, but yeah ROTS is decent, the other prequels though? Seriously 2 of the worst films I've ever seen.
The last act of AOTC is entertaining enough, but yes, the remainder, and the first film, are truly contemptible. The third is easily the best. Problems in abundance yes but at least it felt Star Wars-y in places, not some Disney agenda-laden retread.
It's very well done, and brilliantly scored. I like the intercutting of the Yoda-Sidious stuff too. Some dodgy acting and dialogue aside ('My New Empire!'), the film goes into a great stretch from the Order 66 scene to the Vader 'Noooooo'. That said, for me nothing tops Vader vs Luke in Jedi - Luke's 'Nooooo!', plus Williams' monumental music (stunning choral work in particular) in the sequence that follows, gives me chills every time. No duel in the series comes close to the emotion and power of this one. Just a shame old George had to taint that climax by adding the absurd Vader 'Noooooo' for the Blu-ray edition. Stupid old **** should be kept well away from these films now.
