Was talking to a Liverpool fan this morning....he was commiserating because both our teams were losing. I agreed and added it was a shame that we couldn't play Liverpool every week.
Yes, true. And what I am liking is how important it seems to be to Claude and the club to win the EFL as a route back into Europa. That has been raised as an objective a few times, and that is heartening that we have that ambition - consistent, simultaneous forays into Europe is part of making us a better, more experienced team with the ability to move further in the Europa each time we qualify, and is crucial as a stepping stone towards being a team who want to compete for a CL place. Spurs ran countless campaigns in Europa to equip them for even the limpest campaigns into the CL. Leicester seem to have mastered it on a debut - but as their league performance shows, it might be easy to flummox teams for a season, but it's about adapting once they've worked you out.
Certainly not been the season I'd hoped for,and Puel's appointed was slightly disappointing for me but it's been done and we get on with it,having said that we've been spoilt slightly I think with how our journey had gone in recent years,we have to be realistic I think, take a step back get through this season assess how we move forward for next season hopefully in the premiership. Tbh I'm well chuffed that we've got to Wembley and I can give my boy an experience I never had at 9 years of age. Seeing Saints at Wembley in a major cup final will live in his memory for ever and for that I truly thank Puel for taking the cup seriously and not fobbing off the fans.
Was just going through this thread to compare the contrasting reactions of a win and loss and found these! Thankfully you were wrong!
I did say that I thought I'd seen it for a while against West Ham. And although I didn't see the Swansea game, by all accounts when Boufal came on, he played in the hole. I'm not surprised therefore that Puel played it today - the signs were finally starting to come. Now, by and large, please lets stick with it from now on.
