Good result. Looking forward to draw on Saturday. Don't want a big side as I'd like to progress and meet a big side in the final!
Agreed, although if we draw a big side it'd be even better if we get to the final after taking down one of the big'uns.
Well done Saints, hope you can get a good draw in the next round, and with some luck go further in the competition... Will be back tomorrow to read the comments on the game.
Knew it would be a close game...good luck in League. Would say see you next year, but we obviously hope not to be there (and I don't mean relegated)
Ok first half but the 2nd half bored the hell outta me to be honest, think it's more because i don't get nervy at cup matches, especially the carling cup.
Only 7,414 were there, to see a not very inspiring game, the opposition were not good and we never broke into a sweat, class told in the end. Feel sorry for Bart. a spectator for most of the game and lost concentration for their goal. Forte was a nonentity and one fears what will happen if Lambert gets injured. Young Reeves put in a good shift albeit not in his best position. Some good stuff from De Ridder and Holmes but they had no-one in the box to capitalise. Strong defending from Aaron and Hoover, a mixed bag from both full backs. Midfield Spider and Chappers did what they had to do. Lala was just different class when he came on. The most disappointing thing about PNE was them resorting to cynical pull backs when they had been beaten for pace and the Ref had no choice but to hand out yellows.
Forgot to say that De ridder drove me mad in the first half when he should of played either forte or holmes through on goal but decided to try and take on about 3 preston players, good player but i think he needs to get his head up at times.
Interesting game. Dull 2nd half. 1st half performance was fairly impressive considering the number of changes but I wouldn't say we looked like scoring, despite pressure around the box. The team stayed in 3rd/4th gear throughout most of the game, especially 2nd half. But at the end of the day you can only beat what's put in front of you. Here's to yet another home draw!
Excellent didn't know he'd gone there! Stupidly that would be the first time I'd see him play despite him staying on saints' books for god knows how long!
Poor attendance. Was weird sitting there with masses of empty seats due to lack of interest. Would've been better having 10k +
