Davide Somma has been diagnosed with a torn anterior cruciate & has been ruled out for up to six months, leaving us currently with only two fit strikers,Paynter & McCormack. Hopefully Becchio will be back soon but it leaves us weakened up front. Obviously other parts of the team still need to be strengthened with the limited budget at our disposal, another GK,midfielder etc.so does this mean a reprieve for Mike Grella? After all he's still with us & could do a decent job as maybe an impact sub like Somma.
I know he had a bit of an attitude problem while on loan at Swindon but in our current situation can we afford to let him go.
The guy has ability,he surely deserves a second chance. It would also save us using up some of our transfer/wages budget on a replacement strker at the expense of another DM.
Grella's still a Leeds United player.....let's use him.

I don't think we need to panic, if we are going to have a lengthy injury to a player prior to the season starting better that it is in a position we are already strong in. I would guess Grayson will bring in a Sanchez Watt style loan signing again.

    Snoddy,becchio,howson,gradel.
He will be back by fen just in time for the run in.....
Think we will sign a cf on loan... With the keeper we need...

Not too bothered by this, was never more than a sub player anyway. I would be concerned if we didn't get some form of cover for other areas. As for Grella, NO CHANCE, utter drivel, not good enough for league one and no chance in the Championship

Somma is a sub player, that's it, there are quite a few of them out there and we can pick one up reasonably cheap. Don't spew drivel about him being our best striker, he's not.

Losing Somma is a big big loss, how can people be so casual about it?
Even on crutches he'd be more mobile than Paynter

He's better than Paynter, I grant you that, but he isn't that great that we should be worried. There are equally as good players out there for a loan, if we need to.

How is it a big loss when I doubt very much he would have made the starting 11? I agree I would prefer to have him fit and available for selection but if someone is going to miss the start of the season better it being a fringe player than one of the starting 11

Its a big loss because if we're in need of a goal there's not many strikers out there with his goals scored per minutes played ratio,& to think we can just go out & get a player on loan of his ilk is rubbish.

No it's not, too think Somma is special is rubbish. Fact is there are better players out there and IF we need to get one, we can, for a short loan period.

I'm not particularly worried. Becchio will probably be back in time for the start of the season and Paynter & McCormack are perfectly capable anyway. Nunez and Gradel can both also play up front and we have Grella to call upon if needed. Would like to see someone like Delfouneso brought in until January though.
