Any of you "loyal" supporters got a soft spot for another club? If so who and why. I've a soft spot for millwall mainly because they were my local club, and when i was younger I was a bit of a **** (hard to believe i know)
Charlton and West Ham. Mainly because I had mates who supported them and would go with them to watch their games when Arsenal were away and I either couldn't get tickets or couldn't afford it.
I've always liked Bournemouth, as much as they call us scummers. Had some right ****s at St Marys this weekend though! Also Swindon, for family reasons.
Nottingham Forest, used to go watch them a lot when I lived there. Great club would love them in the PL.
Palace. Because they were the local team when we moved to South London when I was a kid. A few mates were Millwall, so been to see them many times also, back in the day.
Support spurs cos I had family in North London but have always lived in SE London so always keep an eye out for Charlton scores. Mrs RCL is an Owls fan so I always cheer them on.
Talking of confused plastics, here's the docile Irish Canadian who hates the English and follows a Welsh club
Always cracks me up when we sing "North is ours... **** off back to woolwich cos north London is ours" cos thats where I get off the train
I used to feel a bit uncomfortable singing 'Oh South London...is full of ****' when we were playing Palace, Charlton, Millwall etc
2 club fans and having a soft spot is 2 different things entirely though. I don't give a toss when other teams lose, but keep an eye on their results. Plus it really seems to piss the Bournemouth fans off if you tell them that, we're supposed to take them seriously and hate them apparently Another one I keep an eye on is Walsall, just cos how class their fans were on the day we were promoted from League 1.
Swansea City, because I've lived there for over 20 years now and have watched them through every division. Was great fun going to the Vetch watching them in league 2 as it is now. It does seem odd now they are also premier league but I still go as they are my son's home town team so we all go. They're very much a genuine 2nd team. I support United though, if United beating them at the end of this month helps send Swansea down, so be it. Not even close.
With you on Brentford, but in my case it's the Red and White stripes. Plus Brentford is the only corner of West London that remains an absolute ****hole, so I sort of respect the general crappy naffness of the club and it's community.
Remember going to an arsenal v millwall cup game once, when the clock end was open, was great fun would of been 88 or 89.
