You should have asked mate. I bombed! Told them I wanted £100m transfer budget or they could **** off. Told me to **** off instead.
Could this hold up be takeover related? If so it could be Bracewell for the time being. The new owner would surely want their own man? The transfer embargo would royally **** us though. Surely Short wouldn't escalate talks to formal takeover negotiations while the transfer window is open would he? As the rules state a transfer embargo is in place while a formal takeover takes place. We should have heard on a manager by now.
Could be linked to the takeover but these things can take ages by all accounts so I certainly hope not. It could also be a multitude of reasons like transfer/wage budgets, compensation to current club, contracts etc. I'd rather we appointed Stockdale over Bracewell if we're looking at an interim period.
Just emerged that the delay on appointment was because McInnes was on a 3 week holiday in the US. Personally I would have told him if he's interested in the job, get your ****ing arse back and show commitment from the off.
Bit peeved at the club and him lads. He should have shown willing and we should have demanded some urgency. He'll get my support. But I have to say, there's been about 10 clubs needing managers over this period and we're the only ones to not only have made him our number one choice but we're the only ones to have him on a shortlist. I find that very unnerving.
He'll do. Get him in. All that thinking about O'Neill, Bruce, Poyet, etc. got us ****ing nowhere. What's he going to do? Worse? Just give him some money and tell him to get on with it. Oh, and apologize for the appalling home kit.
On that logic lets just get John Carver in, anybody will do. Seriously, entire squad to build on a budget, massive responsibility. Hope we've made the right choice as this budget squad will define whether there's a promotion push in the coming seasons or half a decade or more of being a lower league midtable team or worse.
