Looking at the team today, the squad today, is the plan to keep the back 4 play 1 up front, maybe Taylor Cotterill Oneil Smith Reid midfield .. link man maybe Tomlin
Keep the side the same Dont change anything The team that lined up against Newcastle should line up against Villa. That would send out a message to the players, but any other approach would be terrible management
you could also say, keeping the same side, same formation, same setup.............................makes us predictable!! I'm sure Brucey had someone there at the Newcastle game!
Chopping and changing all the time looses cohesion and chemistry. Choose the best 11, focus on strengths and improve weaknesses in training. Will make fringe player fight even harder to try to get into starting line-up
The plan will be to face the opposition and hope for the best. Would just this once like to see us go into the lead and then actually finish that way.
Made 6 changes Saturday, 2 enforced and 2 others that I completely agree with (the full backs). Not sure about Smith as not sure if Smith and O'Neill in the same side is a good idea. No idea what side will go out v Villa or how many changes will be made this time, but if LJ is peed off again with Matthews, I dont see him featuring much again TBH. Leave Bryan full back and have 5 man midfield again. Would start with Wilbs but as he did full 90 on Saturday, be prepared to take him off after an hour. Win on Tuesday and again Saturday would make the table look a lot, lot better
I've been LJ out since the Cardiff game, but I like to think I'm objective in my criticism of him, and I think a lot of what's been said here sums up how unreasonable fans can be. LJ made some very bold choices in his lineup - how many of you would have started Vyner? How many of you wrote Wilbraham off because of his age? Now you're saying he ought to stick with the exact same lineup, and anything else would be a sign of weakness? I still have massive reservations about his ability, but I'm man enough to acknowledge when he gets it right, when doing something completely different to what I would have done.
Nobody would have put that team out, however what it does tell us,there are major issues in the camp. A draw was fantastic, even if we sat third in the table. What is a major concern we are unable to win a football match. For me LJ is the coach, and the bucks stop with him. I will be amazed if that same side gets anything at Villa Park. Let's see what it brings.
Can't see us playing the same eleven, Bryan injured? Smith rested? Would like to see Wilbs and Taylor up front and Mags at the back, Villa not the best, we need to get at them!
Yeah I know what I said, I based it on a comment made, in that report. Then looking at the team put out on Saturday sort of made a mockery of what I thought.
Don't be hard on yourself RODney. Didn't 6 changes that 'he could trust' allude that there is trouble in the camp. Reminds me of his Dad saying he had to get rid of a few bad apples when managing City. Now there is only one bad apple - Lee Johnson.
VYNER FLINT WRIGHT BRYAN were my back four the rest of the selections were "interesting" but did work Against Villa we know there is likely to be 1 or 2 changes to the starting line up .. Matty and WILBS ? plus above 4 so need a midfield ?????
season record W D D D D D W W W W W D D L L W Aston Villa HOME .. .. . 28 points of 39 points W L D L W L L D L L L L L L D L D . . Bristol City AWAY .. .. .. 10 points of 33 points Villa are quite strong at home 9th best record in division, City are 21st away team Villa picked up 5th point on Sat from 30 CITY picked up 6th point from last 30! Villa home to 1 of the top 6 and away to 1 in last 10 games = 1 point CITY home to 2 of the top 6 and away to 2 in last 10 games = 1 point VILLA BEATEN JUST TWICE AT HOME
If City play in the same manner as they did second half v Newcastle it will be difficult to create chances.
