We seem to be playing it, just seems weird our transfer fees would buy walker's right arm
I heard not long after FFP city started making bogus sponsors, presumably all the way down to what spray they use to cover farts, barca did the whole 'foundation' thing. Sadly it's a manifestation of that to me.
Bournemouth, Hudds, Brighton, Burnley are spending way less than these but can counteract their seemingly high spend by having a much higher income than previously predicted. We spent to get in the Prem, they spent years building, we probably spent more in the season we were relegated than their 3 previous, and won't somebody PLEASE think of differences in wage bill.
Amazing the bigger teams are having the nerve to moan about TV rights distribution, if anything FFP has made clubs hungrier and more whoreish than cost-cutting. We said it would keep the status quo and it largely has ensured that

I think FFP is being quietly killed as all it actually did was consolidate the big clubs grip on their leagues, another Platini idea that was supposed to help the financially weak French teams as well as they couldn't compete financially with the English, Spanish, Italian or German leagues.

Anyone looked at the numbers up for Sunderland? They must at risk of breaking the rules if they make a big loss this season?

They are doomed on and off the pitch. Their merry band of meth heads, crack pots and doleites will have to go support Darlo when they go under.

It seems FFP has disappeared, if the Hammers recent efforts are to be understood. I don't think copying Middlesbrough's football model from early 2000's is a great idea, mind. They're like the anti-NUFC - they won't buy anyone UNDER 28...

I imagine that it went the same way as the labour party's unresreved support for trade unions. (And don't bring up tories because I hate those ****s too.... I'm just saying It's all empty promises and there is no point trying to analyze it).

It was never going to last, although it was a good idea in principal.
Sadly though, whenever huge sums of money are involved, people bend and break.

Platini invented it and look what's happened to him. How ironic.

Nice idea in principal but flawed and seems to have almost been dropped

Not just clubs taking the piss - from today's Sunday Times

Apparently Neymar's father has asked Paris St-Germain to delay negotiations with Barca over the transfer deal for his son until after 31 July - at which point he earns a £23.3m commission for his part in persuading the 25-year-old forward to sign a new contract last October.

    Last October FFS!

Ever since we got to the point it became apparent that big players repay their transfer fees in merchandising, players and agents have been taking the piss. Its PSG agreeing to this that has allows that kind of bullshit to happen, from now on this will be the norm because if Barca/Manure/Madrid don't, everyone knows PSG will.

I can't believe that Barcelona will be too worried about this. PSG are supposedly meeting the buyout clause they will have negotiated in the contract so they should both be happy. They make a cool UKP121million on the deal.
Clubs only have themselves to blame regarding agents fees. If they collectively agreed they would not pay agents fees, its up to the players, there would be a lot less reasons for players to agitate for transfers.

That's what I was getting at, the crap begets crap theory. No none of them do care anymore because it's all expected and accepted. Fergie was a classic example of player power surge over the last decade or so, and agents with it. Poor ****er couldn't abide with the power they held in the end. No surprise that nowadays Manure are much the same as everyone else, throwing big money at at least 4 players a season. Ibra was free, but how much did that cost in clauses and signing on fees?
So payment for sticking around til a certain month. What next, payments to the agent just for players showing up on time?
Barca are just as bad like, what seems like a small issue now, might not next time this occurs and, because others have already got away with it, those "small issues" have increased tenfold.
You're dead right, they've all done it to each other. The likes of Barca started it, whilst the likes of City/Chelsea have accelerated it
