The sub at 26 mins was his own idea as was the guard of honour, didn't quite work out though as he went off in the 28th minute. I'm sure the Sunderland fans didn't mind at all. So is there a more self absorbed man in world football?
This is a good thread to commemorate the moments that Terry will be remembered for by most football fans.
September 2001: Insulting American tourists after 9/11 The day after the September 11 attacks, Terry and then Chelsea team-mates Frank Lampard, Eidur Gudjohnsen and Jody Morris, were accused of drunkenly mocking American tourists following a drinking session at Heathrow Airport. Fined two weeks wages.
February 2002: Blessed relief Terry was caught on CCTV urinating into a beer glass and dropping it on the floor of an Essex nightclub.
November 2006; Ledley King abused Red-carded at White Hart Lane and accused of abusing Tottenham defender Ledley King. Terry was later fined £10,000 for inappropriate conduct.
March 2008: Too far to walk Terry was fined £60 after parking his Bentley in a disabled bay outside Pizza Express. In the same month his mother, Sue, and mother-in-law had been cautioned for shoplifting. In 2009 his father Edward was caught selling cocaine in an Essex pub to an undercover reporter. He was later given a suspended term of six months after he admitted supplying the class A drug.
December 2009: And on your left, the showers... Investigated by Chelsea and the FA for reportedly accepting £10,000 in £50 notes to show a News of the World reporter round the Chelsea training ground without permission.
January 2010: The Wayne Bridge debacle Terry was alleged to have had a four-month affair with Vanessa Perroncel, the mother of Wayne Bridge's child. Following the scandal, Fabio Capello stripped Terry of the England captaincy and handed it to Rio Ferdinand.
October 2011: Anton Ferdinand abused Terry is alleged to have called the QPR defender Anton Ferdinand a “f***ing black c**t” in a 1-0 defeat for Chelsea at Loftus Road in October 2011. He is stripped of the England captaincy for the second time and is banned for four matches and fined £220,000 for racially abusing Ferdinand.
May 2017: Celebrates self at Stamford Bridge In his last match for Chelsea, Terry ensures he will be remembered as a self absorbed **** by insisting on a guard of honour in the 26th minute.
