An unusual few days. Cycled to work as usual on Tuesday. New route recently that is a longer work out along the towpath to Scrubbs Lane than back to Acton via HQ which is pleasurable. Did not feel well all day Tuesday and was admitted to Hammersmith Heart Attack Centre or 'HAC' as they call it when they answer the phone! Thankfully not a heart attack but an abnormal heart beat called flutter. Through some very clever tech and the skill of some very clever folk, all back to normal after procedure today though has not fixed quite everything. Traditionally at Easter we think of new birth / life in the light of the Easter story of Jesus. Just wanted to register my gratitude and acknowledge the privilege of living in a country where such things are possible and the free NHS and the dedicated hospital teams that are there 24/7 for us. Happy Easter indeed to one and all!!
Keep well RTID - the NHS in this country do a superb job under increasingly difficult conditions and pressure, am.glad that they have sorted you out!
Crikey! All the best RTID, I wish you a speedy recovery. Did they keep you in or were you allowed home?
Not sure if it's the same thing, and I wish you well in your current situation RTID, but I had similar symptoms about a year ago and was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, commonly known as irregular heartbeat. A couple of procedures later and the prognosis is good, annoyingly so as the other half blurted out when I was being myself quite recently. Have you the will made yet?
Tx Mate. In for 3 nights with the usual paradox that when you're ill, you get the worst nights sleep ever hence posting at 05:42 and been up for a while!
Tx Mate. Will made when my adult kids were babies and revised. Highly recommended if you don't want the state to get more that it might otherwise.
Good luck RTID! I was diagnosed with the same or similar over 2 years ago. It's very common. I have had both flutter and flimmer. Take medicine, blood thinner mainly, and have been given electro shocks to the chest that gets the pulse regular again but only for a while in my case. Had an operation, ablation (sp?) In January that I hope has fixed the problem though the Specialists who did this thought I'd be back. All the Doctors tell me exercise is good so I do a lot. Unfortunately they say alkohol is bad and as they seem right about that,I can't drink much now without feeling it very quick, I've had to reduce that. Keeping your cycling going if you feel OK is probably the best thing you can do, in my experience anyway. Stay strong!
