    Maguire is not a right-back

    With Moses Odubajo, Ahmed Elmohamady and David Meyler all absent, Silva turned to Harry Maguire to deputise at right-back. Maguire is a firm favourite with City supporters and is an accomplished centre-back but this game served as proof he is not a full-back.

    Maguire recovered well after giving away a penalty after just two minutes, but didn't provide natural width like Robertson on the other side. City are reportedly interested in Dutch right-back Fenerbahce's Gregory van der Wiel. A loan move for the former Ajax and PSG man would make sense given Silva's current lack of options.

    At kick off it was a definite line of 4 at the back.

    It's was 2-7-1 with Michael Dawson at RWB and Harry Maguire up front.

    Do you know what. For once as a supporter, I'm not really bothered about the formation, as I totally trust Silva. Had it been Phelan, and probably even Bruce, I would have been wading in to the conversation and would have had strong views before and after the game.
