Has anybody who bought a season ticket actually received it yet? I would have thought now would be about the time they begin to be sent through the post...
I'm such a mug I've bought one again even though half the games I will be working ...creature of habit
Great news! We can now "forget the season from hell that has burnt itself out" etc.... http://www.charlton.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=497258 I love this guy; Passing judgment on who is and who is not a Charlton supporter. But whether he disowns them or not, the collective will of fans is something neither he or Roland Duchatelet has any influence over. Basically the more he insults you and rants about what you're doing, the more you can be reassured you are making a difference.
That was a bizarre read. We haven't kicked a ball in anger yet, but this tosser is alresdy attacking the fans, as well as offering a very odd (not to say skewed) version of last season's failures. Didn't know Sue Parkes had a brother.
You get stuff like that in every walk of life. Basically saying "sell out on all your moral principles, and accept second best." It's hard to convince people what your doing is right when they have no vision or foresight.
I particularly like the way Mr Tucker accuses fans of having a chip on their shoulder. He's picking up from where he left off last season.
It's an article to stir a bit of 'controversy' and get hits to the site, in hope of generating more advertising revenue. 'fake news'
Collected my season ticket today from the post office (the parcel was too wide for the letterbox) Got to admit it was very nicely presented; A rather splendid red box containing the ticket (naturally) as well as... A smart set of illustrated cards explaining the hospitality options - hexagonal, just like the goal netting at the Valley A full colour flip-chart style calendar with fixture dates and events - the same layout as the new fixture pages on the website A red/white striped scarf of a reasonable length, with a woven Club badge sewn (not glued) on to one end, and white tassels on the ends. A promise of six months access to the Valley Pass video service (I renewed back in April) A welcoming message on the inside of the lid of the box. All-in-all a collectible set of goodies with '25 Years Back at The Valley' as the recurring theme. A cynic might say nothing more than a few trinkets, and the scarf perhaps an attempt to counter the highly visible number of black & white scarves seen around the Valley these days. But the Club did not have to do any of this. Just the season ticket in an envelope with a copied letter and a few leaflets was all I had expected until recently. I know empathising with fans is something our current owners have never achieved (or even deemed to be worthwhile until recently) but I can appreciate that somebody at Charlton has made an effort to say thank you to season ticket buyers by way of including some nice extras in a nice presentation box. And sending it in good time before the season kicks off. So I'm going to very briefly break with several years of criticising and dissatisfaction to say a Thank You to whoever assembled this little bundle of goodies. It's the closest thing the Club has done to try and make me feel welcome since RD and KM took over. Each of us has his/her own choice to make about attending home matches these days, and I have complete respect for any position that fellow Charlton fans feel they must take. I don't go to the Valley because I support the RD regime; I go because I want to, and for other family related reasons that are very important to me. I don't think I'll ever stop going however bad things might get. I'm just saying I think it's nice that a bit of extra thought and effort has gone into the presentation of this year's season tickets.
As I said, I also understand those who are so sickened by the way the clunb has been mismanaged tey refuse to go until the Belgians pack up and leave. However, I live in Spain and I am not going to deprive myself of the chance to go to the Valley when it presents itself. Besides, I have drifted to the conclusiĆ³n that the empty ground hurts the club a lot more tan it hurts Roland. We would do better getting everyone back, and if this season goes the way of the previous two, protesting.
Fair play to anyone who buys a S/T, but I just can't, although I'll go to a few home and a few aways this season. I can't get away from the feeling of being mugged off from afar. Seems there was never any intention of re-investing any of the Lookman (and Fox) money in the team.
Our computer ticketing system is a joke. Should have invested in a mobile app, and you should have been able to book through it, via Apple or Mobile Pay. This club is sooo 1990s
