Saturday sees us pitched against Brighton at the Amex. Recent form certainly favours a home win, with Brighton being unbeaten in their last 6 games, whereas we have suffered two narrow defeats over the same number of games. A win would see us leapfrog Brighton and keep us in touch with Newcastle, whereas a defeat would see us perilously close to slipping out of the top 6. NCFC team selection is going to be interesting, with Howson missing for a couple of months and does AN start with Brady and Ja Murphy, both of whom have been underperforming for the last couple of games, or does he decide to freshen things up and start with Pritchard (in an online poll in the EDP, a ‘mere’ 94% out of over 1,000 who voted think AP should start!!!) and maybe Canos – we’ll know the answer at 2pm on Saturday?? Pinto is still rated as doubtful, tough Dorrans is in the squad and AN apparently feels that Ja Murphy is still preferred in the starting 11.
I certainly think Pritchard played well enough against Leeds to get a start, but he also played 120 minutes. Brady did the same, so it could be a toss-up at WL with Olsson returning to LB.
Not expecting to win. Our underperforming team seems to want to shoot themselves in the foot and I can't see this changing at any time soon.
Not looking forward to this game. We are so poor at the moment, I think even Hughton could get one of his dull 1-0 wins against us.
Bit harsh, he seemed reasonably intelligent for a footballer! Have to agree though, we pay £8 mill for a player, let's play him (well, it doesn't always work, no names mentioned).
So, I wonder when/if we'll see Thompson getting a run out in the first team any time soon - http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...wich_city_s_central_midfield_rivals_1_4754559
After last weeks debacle I'm not confident at all for this one. Brighton 3 City 1 AN out of a job by Christmas
Like Pritchard and Olivera, Thompson was one of the positives from the Leeds game, especially as we have two CMs injured at the moment.
Brighton...1 Norwich...0 Defensive error leads to the winner. Norwich miss a couple of sitters but fail to create much more. Brighton solid and comfortable. Hughton sits with a smug look on his face. AN says post match that the performance was unacceptable, despite not really changing selection and using the exact same tactics.
The frustrating Leeds game doesn't really matter as Liverpool would of easily beaten us anyway but if we start with the same side that choked against Fulham and Preston then Neil will piss off a few. I predict us going 1 up and hanging on until about 79 mins then conceding from a misplaced back pass then another straight from kick off . I would be thrilled with a 0-0 and competent defensive shut out.
