Had a call yesterday from a bloke with an Indian/Pakistani accent saying he was from Talktalk. After all the ****e of asking how I was, are you having a good day, blah, blah this is how the conversation generally went. Him - Sir were you online between 2 & 5 am? Me - No. Him - Sir, someone has been trying to get access to your internet account. Me - Really?: Him - yes, it was really fluctuating between those hours. Someone is trying to hack your account. Me - It may have been my son on his xbox or PS4. Him - No sir, it was no one from your household. Me - How do you know this? Him - Our technology allows us to detect security threats. Now if you allow me access to your computer I can give you a new IP address & stop these threats. Me - I'll just stop you there mate. Youre not from Talktalk. Him - I am sir. Me - Can I have the number you are calling from please? Him - I'm sorry I can't give out the number. Me - That's OK, my brother in law is a detective, I'll get him to put a trace on my line so we'll know exactly where you are next time one of you scamming bastards calls. Him - **** off you stupid ****. Line dead. A warning to you all. I mentioned it to a mate down the bar. He's with BT & has had exactly the same. NEVER allow anyone access to your PC
I get them on a fairly regular basis. Normally I just hang up but thought I'd have a bit fun with this one. Not long ago I had a letter from Talktalk saying watch out for scam calls & that they will never contact me by phone. That's how I know it's all a con. Plus they never ask "is that Mr T***********." It's all so obvious.
He wouldn't have got passed 'Online'. Worth remembering, a lot of these calls can charge you a premium rate just for staying on the line. So all though it's fun to argue the toss, one day it could run you up a big bill just for being clever. Just hang up on anybody you're not expecting a business call from.
