I'd be happy for us to upgrade on Long. I'd also be happy for us to stick with him. Not a priority in my book.
http://www.skysports.com/football/n...er-wanted-by-aston-villa-birmingham-and-derby Gallagher arousing interest as a loanee. I hope he is in agreement with this (if it happens) as I believed he signed a new contract in the belief he would be involved here.
IF we keep our key players buy hoedt and get an attacking midfielder in this will have turned out to be a very good window indeed.
And I'm guessing Long would prefer to go somewhere that would allow him to get more than "running around in the 80th minute" playing time, too. Saw a big dropoff in his minutes last year, and that involved a lengthy stretch where he was our only fit striker; unless we have an injury crisis, he's not going to see that much of the field.
Agreed. I like Long because he does give it his all, but I think fans rate him higher than they should purely because he runs around a lot and looks to be trying everything he can. Time for a new no.7!
My Wolves mates still think he is heading their way. Probably yeh best place for him out of those that have an interest
Indeed. Villa are a complete mess and would avoid like the plague Birmingham? Rednapp.....p*ss off Wolves are definitely the midlands team on the rise, big club, large noisy fan base, continental manager with large European contingent of decent players playing a premiership style. Would do him good
I also liked him because he looked great running with Mane....enough to frighten most teams. We sadly miss pace at the moment. And we'll always have that goal against Liverpool
If Shane Long could finish he would be worth £50m, his all round game is fantastic but he unfortunately lets himself down in the most important aspect of his role. Regardless of him staying or going I think we should loan Gallagher out, he needs to be playing regularly and he won't get that here. Send him to another Champ team, preferably a middling-top one, but more importantly one where he will be first choice. If Long goes then I think a loanee would be perfect, someone to come in for a season and play in a few games and lets us re-assess where we are with Gallagher next summer (and Austin and Gabbiadini)
Villa, complete mess after 3 games of the season.... No to Birmingham due to Redknapp... And Wolves are up and coming because.... didn't they struggle just like villa last season? I shouldn't bite
SFTW - I have an inside track on Villa, trust me "a shambles" regardless of results on the pitch that I think will eventually turn around as they have so many decent experienced players but sadly a lot of them aren't playing much due to "issues"
If we can keep the squad together (possibly minus Long, Gazza, Gardos and Gallagher on loan), get VVD back playing to his usual high standards, sign Hoedt, an attacking mid and a striker to replace Long if he goes then I will give this window a 9/10. Only reason it is not a 10 is because of how late in the window it is and I feel we will be dropping points we maybe won't be later in the season when the team is settled.
https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...-southampton-demand-silly-offer-a3614576.html According to the Standard, Saints will only sell Cedric if they get a silly offer....strange, I thought Chelsea had already made one.
