There will be quite a bidding war for Virgil, hopefully a couple more big boys step in. If it is Chelsea then hopefully we could make Ake part of the deal
Second Stain, this one's for you.... Oddly few commented on it. That git FLT did, of course. What do you expect.
https://southamptonfc.com/news/2017-03-28/southampton-2017-18-season-ticket-prices-announcement Has anyone spotted all the famous people in the crowd? I can see Nial Quinn, JWP, Ian Rush, a short haired James Miner, a slightly fatter Shane Long and Kelvin Davis looking away. Can you spot any others?
A brave lad from Saintsweb listened to an half hour interview with Puel on BTSport and provided the following summary (took one for the team as some wag remarked ). The philosophy of the club, developing players and continuing to improve is critical and a reason he feels he is a good match. Interestingly, talking of previous managers following the same philosophy, he omitted Koeman. In France, he struggled to keep his best players, but hopes to find it easier to keep them at Saints. Good luck with that one. Enjoys the challenge of playing the best teams - the only way to judge progress. Therefore wants to get back into Europe. The diversity of tactics on the Prem is a challenge needing different responses. He finds refs too lenient against "physical" teams. Young players have to be given chances to prove themselves. Their strength of character to rise to the challenge is as important as technical ability. He is very impressed with our facilities. Wenger was an important mentor and Puel took his advice before agreeing to come to Saints. Wenger had praise for us. He thinks Saints fans are very knowledgeable, understand tactics and provide great support. He likes the job and sees the key objective as ensuring the club keeps improving its league position whilst developing players at all levels. In summary, i would say that, beneath the excruciatingly dull exterior, there is an intelligent and talented manager who is an excellent match for The Southampton Way
I really don't think Claude Puel is dull and find it a bit annoying many people believe he is. He is simply not English and is learning the language. People judge him as being dull because he doesn't express himself, I don't think I'd be able to express my feelings in an interview if I went to France! The only time people give him credit for being exciting and having passion is whenot he is beside the pitch, reacting to the game. Funnily enough he doesn't have to speak then. Let the fella learn the language!
That took 30 minutes? Sure he didn't drop off half way through like most of us would and missed most of it?
Shared familiar jokes are always funny....especially when they include a bit of love for the subject of the joke. I understand Puel's difficulties and admire his ability to speak in another language, but he is soporific and no amount of understanding and empathy will alter that.
Goal of the month...toughie. I like Redmond's second because it was an interesting shot, but preferred the first Redmond goal because of the build up.
